It's been a while since I asked Chijo to get a drink with me and since then a lot of things have happened. Things have not progressed as I hoped. I wanted to get Chijo alone but his two burly-looking friends -- named Jiro and Kei -- joined us after some time. So we're now sitting together in a separate booth in the diner. Ami -- one of the performers wearing skimpy sailor costumes -- decided to sit with us too. Apparently, the blonde girl in low pigtails is Jiro's cousin.

Hmph.

Having them around makes it so much harder. If Chijo were alone it would be easier. But I think I can still pull it off. I've had worse assignments after all.

"Thank you guys for staying with me," I softly say, addressing the group. Slouching, I keep my head down in order to appear smaller and harmless as I sit beside Chijo.

"It's fine. After everything you went through, it's the least we can do. " Chijo answers me with a worried look on his face. Jiro and Kei nod their bald heads in agreement.

"I've dated my fair share of bad men. But your ex-boyfriend is a fucking monster." Ami reaches out for my hand and presses my palm with hers in support. Sighing, she extends her neck, her gray eyes peer at Sasuke from a distance. Ami shakes his head in disapproval upon seeing him in a booth surrounded by two waitresses. "He knocked you up and left you. You lost the child in grief and ruined your reputation. And then he comes back not to apologize to you but to use you to find your dad. Sasuke Uchiha is pure scum. All ninjas are scum."

"I know. I thought he'd change for me. He promised that he would but he didn't," I look down and somberly say, "I knew there was no hope for us eventually. But by then, I just wanted to find my dad. I knew finding him would make my life better. I have nothing of my own so I'm trapped with him even if we've broken up."

"Don't worry Sayumi, you have me now." Chijo gives me a hopeful smile. "I'll help you figure this out."

"Takamagahara is a place of opportunity. You can get back on your feet here. Master Tomo owns a lot of businesses in this community. I'm sure there's an opening somewhere," Kei kindly says as his small, brown eyes look at me with concern.
