"Did you have to do that?" Sasuke grumbles, shaking his head in disapproval -- the very moment I reach his side. "Flirting. Again."

Sasuke clicks his tongue and narrows his eyes at the royal guards waving at us from their post at the fork of the road. At this moment, we're on the side of the red brick road that's inside the Royal City. Sho dropped us off at the gates and wished us luck before heading to meet the Crown Prince's Engineer at his office. I've just come back after talking to the guards about the shipwreck and the whereabouts of the survivors from the Ryujin.

"Well, I was flirting for a good cause. I needed to validate the information we've obtained." I pat him on the shoulder and explain myself to Sasuke who just sighs deeply. From above, the morning sun pleasantly warms my skin. Decorative bamboo poles with colorful sashes of green and red cloth hang on top of the poles and gently blow in the wind.

"Hn." Sasuke doesn't say anything more and purses his lips.

Throngs of women -- dressed in colorful midribs and bamboo skirts -- pass us. Excitedly, they chatter noisily amongst themselves. Their elaborate bead necklaces reach past their exposed navels and their anklets rattle as they walk towards the other side of the red brick road where several stalls are lined up. From the other side of the road, merchants guard their stalls and mutter creative jingles as they advertise their wares to people loitering. A handful of peddlers -- holding makeshift trays strapped to their necks -- circle the area and some negotiate with customers who are examining their products. Just seeing how many people are in that cramped space alone makes me wonder if some pickpockets are lurking for unsuspecting victims.

"We can't just rely on the first person we hear intel from. Besides, you're still recovering, so using your Sharingan is out of the question, right? It just needed to be done." I emphasize, but Sasuke's chagrined expression tells me all I need to know. He doesn't seem to understand why I'm doing what I'm doing. "Come on, you have to give me some credit here. It wasn't exactly easy, you know. It was difficult to get them to talk about anything useful. And I did it in such a short time, I deserve a medal."
