Sasuke's curt answer echoes in my head. How could that degenerate easily brush me off like that? I smiled at him. I tilted my head to feign interest and slightly turned my head down to evoke a sense of vulnerability. That's usually all it takes for men to do what I ask and want to protect me.
But Sasuke Uchiha said no. He just stared at me with those cold dark eyes and in a toneless voice told me that taking the train or an airship were better alternatives. He continued to walk towards the direction of the inn, leaving me with my jaw hanging in disbelief as I followed him. He didn't even bid me farewell when we got to the inn. He just left me there in shock as he turned his back to me and made his way back to his hovel.
How could he be so indifferent to me?
Since I got started in my career as a KISU Operations Agent, I've had some failed missions but I've never ever botched missions where I was assigned as a honeypot. I'd go as far as to say that I am the best KISU Operations Agent that KISU has trained in the Art of Seduction and Charm. There's no target that I can't lure. Even if there are some that are not attracted to me; I always bring them to my cause and get the job done. I have always gotten my way, until tonight. This is a first.
Heaving a deep sigh, I fix my eyes at the faint cracks in the ceiling above me faintly illuminated by the orange flames of the oil lamp on the table beside the bed which I am lying on.
Shuffling restlessly underneath white cotton sheets, I place a pillow over my eyes to will myself to get a wink of sleep. I've already set the alarm on my smartwatch to wake me up two hours from now. I know I only have two hours left to rest and recuperate; two hours until dawn breaks and after that, I have to carry out my plan. But I can't seem to get myself to fall asleep.
