The party had already started by the time we arrive at the arched wooden doors of the Great Hall.

"Welcome back Lady Minako and Lord Darui." Two shinobi guards, dressed in standard white Kumo uniform, greet us and bow their heads.

Darui and I give both men a quick nod to acknowledge them and they slowly open the giant doors of the Great Hall.

"Are you okay?" Darui turns to me and knits his brows.

"Yeah." I manage to mutter as I give him a tight smile.

"Everything's going to be fine," Darui says reassuringly as he laces his hands with mine. I flinch a bit at the coldness and unfamiliarity of his touch.

"For appearances." He explains to me after seeing the confusion in my face.

Appearances. I understood that well enough. The Raikage Clan must show unity. We can't afford to let others see the cracks because if we do, our enemies will come to take us down. Despite the fact that I am opposed to the engagement, I know I have to play the part for now.

"For appearances." I agree and give Darui a hesitant smile as I try to get used to the feeling of his rough hands on mine.

It's just like I am on one of my missions for KISU really. It's not a big deal. I've gone undercover as a honeypot more times than I can count. Pretending to be interested in someone is something I've mastered and perfected to an art.
