NEWT POV:

I finished buttoning my shirt. I left my room and met Thomas in the hallway. "Hey, ready for today" asked Thomas. "I guess, I have honestly never been to church. My family wasn't super religious" I said. "Well zombies are probably different then humans for church. We have the same religions but also some zombie beliefs" said Thomas. He held my hand and we walked to church. "So what exactly happens at a zombie church" I asked. "You'll see" said Thomas. We made it to the church. It was a black building built to look spooky. Which also makes me question. Are human churches always white? I've never seen one that isn't white. That's weird now that I think of it. Thomas and I met people outside. I wasn't sure what religion this church is but there is a cross. So it could be anything. A bell rung signaling that the church has started. I stood with Thomas outside. We stood in a circle. The pasture had me stand in the center. He handed me a drink. "What is this" I asked. "Goat blood" said the pasture. "You're suppose to drink it" Thomas whispered.

He went back to stand in the circle. I slowly took a sip of the drink. It taste okay. I put the glass down and looked at Thomas. I have no idea what to do. Thomas signal me to drink more. I drinked more of the goat blood. I watched Thomas as he pretended to drink a invisible glass. Do I drink it all? I drinked until the glass was empty. Thomas put his hand down and i put the glass down. My vision became funky. What was in that drink? Besides goat blood. I gave the blood back to the pasture. The circle picked me up and carried me somewhere. I don't think I'm drunk. I still think clearly. It's just my senses are funky. I was laid down on a cot. I saw one of the people have a knife. "Wait what is that" I asked sitting up. Thomas got on his knees beside the cot and held my hand. "It's okay Newt" said Thomas. I started to feel numb. Thomas kissed my forehead and I looked into his eyes. "You won't feel a thing. It's just to turn you into a zombie faster" said Thomas.

Oh, I'm okay with that, but why the knife? Thomas laid me back down and held my hand. I can't feel anything. I closed my eyes and relaxed. I feel a little tired. Just enough to rest but not enough to sleep. I was cut open but didn't feel it. I opened my eyes and looked at my stomach. I wish I didn't because I might have to vomit. I looked at the sky to try and get rid of the nausea. That I can't unsee. I laid there still not feeling a thing. The pasture grabbed a needle. I was given a shot in my heart. The liquid was injected into my heart. It started beating fast and I felt my body move around as if I was having a seizure. I'm not, I think. Can people still be awake and aware during a seizure? I can't feel myself move because of the drink that made me numb but I know it's happening. I coughed and my body slowly stopped moving. I laid there and felt exhausted. I was stitched up and Thomas laid on the cot with me. He held me in his arms. Everyone else went to do the other rituals.

After a hour I could finally feel again. "So what was that all about" I asked. "You still aren't a full zombie but you can now eat zombie food" said Thomas. "Oh, I guess we can finally share food like couples do" I said with a smile. Thomas smiled but then it faded. We looked at each other. "Are you okay with this" asked Thomas. "Ya, why" I asked. "Just making sure. I don't want to force you to do anything you don't want to do" said Thomas. I put my hand on his cheek. "Thomas, there is no where else I would rather be. I admit that what just happened was a bit weird and unusual but I'm okay with it. Zombies might be seen as a cult but we aren't evil. I love you and I'm okay with all this" I said. Thomas smiled. "I was worried you would hate being with a zombie and everything here" said Thomas. "I'd rather be with you then any human in the world. But how about next time we talk about the zombie rituals that will happen to me. Okay" I said. "Okay, I promise to tell you everything. Like the bone dance" said Thomas. "What" I asked. "It's just a costume. But we dress up in a skeleton suit and dance as we sacrifice a pig or some animal" said Thomas. "Not sure I can dance but I can still wear the suit" I said. "Good that, but you should rest for now" said Thomas.
