Undying Love part 27

NEWT POV:

We finally made it back to the zombie town. The ball drops tonight. I was swimming with Thomas at the pool. 

"How come you only swim where you can touch" asked Thomas. 

"Because, I'm just use to breathing I guess. I forgot zombies don't breath. Anyway we can go to the deep end but I won't drown right" I asked. 

"You'll be fine Newt. You kinda are already dead but more of a living corpse so we still age and have to eat food" said Thomas nervously. 

"Wait but wouldn't we start rotting at some point if we are dead ish" I asked. 

"No, that isn't till you are fully dead" said Thomas. 

"Good, I've seen the shows" I said. 

"Lets be glad we aren't like that" said Thomas. 

We went to the diving boards. I watched Thomas jump off the board. He swam to the edge. I climbed up onto the board and made it to the end. I looked at the water below me. I've never been in this deep of water with out a life jacket or some floating device. I closed my eyes and jumped. I swam to the top and whipped my eyes. I smiled and swam to Thomas. I climbed out of the water. 

"That was easier then I thought" I said. 

Thomas and I put goggles on. He grabbed my hand and we jumped in the deep end. They have the deep end set in two parts. Diving and swimming. Thomas and I were on the swimming side. I swam down to the bottom and tried to stand there. Thomas smiled and we swam around a bit. Which now that I think about it, if we can't drown the life guards are more for making sure no one gets hurt.

THOMAS POV:

I swam to the top and Newt followed. 

"That was so cool, I never thought I would be able to do that" said Newt happily. 

I laughed a little. 

"It's one of the many perks we have as zombies. Anyway want to go get something to eat" I asked. 

"Ya, I'm kinda hungry" said Newt. 

We got out of the water and dried off. I tied the towel around my waist and we ordered some pizza. I sat with Newt at a table. 

"You okay, you seem to have something on your mind" I asked. 

"Ya it's just, I had a dream back when I was human. I died during a riot but I didn't see who shot me" said Newt sadly. 

I said nothing. 

"But it's just a dream right? It's not real and if it was then we won't let it happen" I said. 

"I know it wasn't real but I'm still haunted by it. Tommy if I die soon then who will be left to love you every day like I do" asked Newt. 

I put my hand on Newt's shoulder. 

"You won't die Newt, we will grow old together before you even come near death. I promise" I said. 

Newt smiled and gave me a peck on the lips. 

"I'm glad I married the perfect zombie. However I guess I might survive if that does happen. Just because I'm shot doesn't always mean I'm dead right" asked Newt. 

"Exactly, besides if you die before me I'll probably die of heart break" I said. 

"Just make sure I'm dead though, I might be reborn as a human and you have to find me again" said Newt. 

"At least I'll have a second chance but that won't happen Newt. I won't let you die" I said. 

"Don't make promises you can't keep Tommy" said Newt. 

"I don't" I said.
