My Rule

Chapter 3

I was awakened by someone shaking me awake. I jump up and see Maggie laughing. "Stoooop." I groaned sleepily. "Come on Lills, it's time for breakfast!" She said. I sat up quickly. I was starving.

She helped me up onto my crutches, and walked with me down to breakfast. I saw some eggs, bacon, and lots of bread. I saw Glenn and Carol in the kitchen making everything, while the rest sat down to eat. "Morning Lilly." They all said. I smiled and said good morning. I saw Carl and he looked away. Okay, that's strange.

I sat down and ate and afterwards I went to go relax. I read a book and stayed with Carol mostly the whole day. She introduced me to Judith, who was absolutely adorable.

"Is she yours?" I asked Carol. She smiled halfly and shook her head. "This is Carl's step-sister. His mom uh... had a her with another man." "Oh." I said feeling awkward. "What happened?" I asked.

She sighed and said, "I think you'll have to ask Carl that sometime, honey. Its not really my place to say. He doesn't like talking about it, so I think you should ask him. I nodded and held Judith and fed her the bottle.

I sang my favorite song Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

Before I knew it, Judith was sound asleep. I smiled and caressed her little cheek. I then heard a cream by the door and looked to see Carl. "Hey..." I said. "Hi." We stood there in silence for a couple seconds when he finally said, "You have a really nice voice." I blushed a little and said "Thank you" tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

He sat down next to me and we sat there looking at Judith and smiling. Carl was actually very caring, and so kind hearted, and-

WHAT WAS I DOING?! I forgot about my rule! Ugh! It's so hard being 15 with raging hormones! Why can't I just not be able to love? I moved away and said, "I have to use the bathroom" giving him Judith. I got up and crutched away quickly. "Lilly!" He called after me.

I.ran to my room and stayed in there. I didn't eat dinner because I didn't feel like it really. Don't fall for anyone because once you do, they'll die. That saying kept repeating in my head the whole night until I drifted to sleep.
