My Rule

Chapter 9

I woke up very warm and secure. I turn over and see Carl open his eyes. We both jumped and yelled a little and he fell out of bed. I climb over the bed and see if he was okay. I see Glenn rush in and ask if we we're okay.

"Any possible way we could get separate beds?" I asked and Carl reluctantly nodded his head.

"Sorry guys, but unless you want to sleep on the floor, then no."

Well I sure as hell wasn't giving up my bed. I got up and took several clothes and went into the bathroom to change. I put on a dark purple t shirt with black jeans and my combat boots. I put my hair in a ponytail and walked out to eat some breakfast.

Carol made eggs for everyone and we ate quickly. Then it was mine, Carl and Daryl's turn to go and find some stuff. I got my bag and I was in charge of shirts and sweaters. If I found some food I would take it. I stuffed my bag with one pack of my bullets, and walked outside with my gun.

We drove to the store and it looked like a ghost town. We saw several walkers outside and I used my knife to kill them. There wasn't any use to kill them with my gun. That's a waste of a bullet. We walked in and I killed some walkers while I was shopping. I took lots of shirts and sweaters. I also found some non-perishable foods such d took some too. I also got myself some of my girl stuff. That time of the month was going to come around soon.

I walked out of that room and came face to face with a walker. I yelped as it snapped its rotting teeth at me. I took my knife and drew it in its head getting some blood on my shirt. That's why I wear dark clothes.

I heard a loud bang and Carl scream. I looked but couldn't see anything. I climbed up in top of the shelves and looked to see dozens of walkers coming toward us, with Carl screaming and running fast.

I gasped and turned around and ran back. I jumped every single time there was a space between the aisles, almost falling down. They were a little behind us, but I wasn't taking any chances. I ran up and climbed on the pole seeing walkers down below me.

I slipped a little, but held on tight. I had to think fast. 'Okay, so there's Carl, screaming like an IDIOT, umm one pole with ropes, two poles with ropes, three poles, balcony!' Great! I climbed up to the ropes and swung to the next pole. The walkers followed me to the pole too. I saw Carl and told him to get up on the shelf. He frantically climbed up and on the third rope I swooped down and grabbed him.

I threw him up on the balcony and we ran away from the walkers down below us. I ran to the freezer and we walked in. I shivered and Carl rubbed my shoulders. I pulled away trying to find a way out. Carl and I split up and I climbed on top of the boxes. I looked around and then got the nerving suspicion that I was being either watched, or even worse- followed.

I looked around and had my gun pointing in every direction that I faced. I then bumped into a hard object and turned around quickly screaming. I fell back but the thing grabbed me and pulled me up.

I look up and see Daryl.

"Daryl! Oh my God you scared me!" I paced.

"You scared me to!" He said in his heavy southern accent. I heard Carl run around the corner and he sighed in relief. We a started looking for a way out. I was pulling boxes down and then heard muffled moans outside the freezer.

I gasped and ran over to Carl and Daryl. "I found a way out. You cut this thing open and I'll barricade the door." Daryl said running over to the door quickly pulling boxes down.

Carl shut the lever three times and tried to push the latch out. "Come on!" I yelled. "It's frozen shut!" He yelled back.

"Guys, stop fucking fighting and knock the damn thing down!" Daryl cursed at us. "Get over here then!" I said. He pulled a couple more boxes down and then ran into the door breaking it.

He fell out into the bushes cursing and groaning in pain. "Go Lilly!" Carl yelled. I jumped out and landed on my good leg and my two hands.

"Oh, well that wasn't so ba-" I began to day but felt Carl fall on me.

"Dammit Carl!" I yelled. He started chuckling and groaning in pain. He was so weird. "Guys, let's go!" Daryl said and we bolted for the car. I pulled open the door and jumped in as Daryl slammed on the pedal. I almost fell out but I pulled the car door back in. Daryl jerked the car and I fell back into Carl.

"You just can't resist me huh babe?" He said laughing. I rolled my eyes and couldn't help but smile a little.

Once we got back I went inside and out everything away and sat on the bed watching Spongebob. That was the on my station available in this area that wasn't so fuzzy, so it was going to be Spongebob for the next few days.

We ate some of the bread and Abraham caught a deer and we ate the meat. I showered and put on my night shirt and stayed in my pants and got into bed, which Carl was already in. I laid down and fell asleep.

Carl's P.O.V

She was so beautiful when she slept. She was even more beautiful when she was awake, but more peaceful when she slept. I inched closer to her and rested my head on my hand and with my free one softly smoothed her hair. She reminded me of my mom. She was so beautiful, and her blue eyes matched mine. I loved her, and I tried to make her love me. She just is so difficult. That's why I kissed her that one day. I needed to make her think twice about her options.

Michonne came over to me and smoothed my hair and dat next to me. "You really like her, don't you?" She asked me. I smiled and nodded. "Carl, I'm sure she likes you too, she probably just needs some time right now to settle into some things. Give her a chance to love you back."

"I don't know Michonne. She just seems like she doesn't like me at all. Maybe I'm not good enough for her." I said shaking my head.

She took my chin with her finger and said, "Carl Grimes, any girl would be lucky enough to have you, and you are good enough to get any girl you want. I've seen the way she looks at you. I know there's something that makes her crazy when she sees you. Just give her a chance."

"Thanks Michonne." She nodded and kissed my head goodnight. I lived her. She was like a mother to me. I looked back down at Lilly and caressed her cheek one last time before I shut off the light and went to sleep, next to my sweetheart.

My P.O.V

I heard parts of their conversation. I couldn't hear everything, but I felt Carl's heart beat on my back and I felt him touch my cheek. Then the light shut off, and I felt him lay down next to me and hold wrap and arm around me. I smiled a little. I loved Carl, but I didn't want him to get hurt, so I just stuck to My Rule.
