I actually had a better night. I only dreamt once the arguing with my parents. But that was it.
Today some of us were going on a trip to go look for some supplies. I put on my blue spandex shirt, black jeans, my black vest, a winter headband, and my combat boots. I also had on my fuzzy socks for good luck.
I put my hair up in a ponytail and rushed breakfast. I met up with Tia and we talked loading our guns.
"So ya ready for today?" She asked. "Yea, I guess." I sighed. Carl came in wrapping his arms around my waist. "Morning beautiful." I blushed and kissed his soft lips. He squeezed my side a little grabbing his gun and stuff.
Rick came in and said that we have to get ready to go. I clicked my gun closed and grabbed my bag. I was in charge of silverware again. Hu-rah.
I walked out with Carl and we loaded up the trucks. Me, Carl, Carol, and Rick were going today. I hugged Maggie goodbye and she kissed my head. When I got into the truck, I could see her hugging Glenn and waving goodbye to me. She was always so worried when we were going on runs. As we drove away I.could see tears fall from her face. I really wished she didn't do that.
We hit a bump and I sat up. "Alright. Let's go everyone." Rick said getting out. I sighed and got out of the car and walked up the creaky steps. Rick kicked the door down and him and Carol ran in pointing their guns. They checked some of the rooms and then said it was safe.
We began taking everything in the house. I finished because there wasn't much in there and I went upstairs. I pointed my gun in every room and in one bedroom there was a dead walker and a dead person. I shook my head in disgust and continued searching. My magnificent hearing then kicked in and I heard a small weep.
I turned quickly pointing my gun into the room where I heard it coming from. I slowly walked over and put my ear on the door. I heard some heavy breathing.
I slowly enter the room scanning the room for any danger. I hear some whimpering coming from the closet and I walk over to see what it was. There was definitely someone in there.
I open the closet doors and see a little boy in the corner of the closet crying. He yelled a little for help and scrunched up more into the corner. He must've seen my gun and I kicked it away.
I reached out to him trying to calm him down. "Hey, hey there, it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you, it's okay. Can you come here?" The little boy hesitated, but slowly came out and I tried to check him for bites. He kept crying and all and I felt so bad.
"Hey, hey, my name is Lilly, what's your name?" I asked. "M-my name is Jack." He had tears streaming down his cheeks. "How old are you Jack?" I asked. "I-Im 7 years owld." He stuttered. " Okay Jack. Are you hurt? Any boo-boos or bites?" I asked. "I hurt my arm." He said. I scanned it and he had a small cut on it. "Okay, listen, I have a group, we're going to take you with us. It's going to be safe, warm, and you'll be fine." I assured him. He nodded wiping his tears.
He was freezing cold though. "Jack, do you have a jacket?" I asked. "It ripped." He said looking down. I grabbed a small blanket and grabbed his shoes. I helped him quickly pack his things he wanted and we went downstairs.
When everyone saw me they were alarmed I could tell.
"He's fine! I checked him. He's all alone and I need you guys to be open minded please." I said. They exchanged glances and I got upset. "Please Rick, he's only 7." I said squeezing his hand. Rick nodded his head and said we could let him stay.
We finished getting all our stuff again and I wrapped Jack in the blanket and we went into the truck and drove home. But there was only one problem with that.
The roads we covered in snow.
We had to stay in there overnight. We ate some of the food we got from our run in the truck. We weren't going to get home in enough time so we pulled out the roof of the car and were going to sleep in there overnight.
I tucked Jack in with extra blankets and I pulled one over me and Carl. He held me close against his warm chest and I snuggled into him. He kept kissing my forehead and parts of my neck when he finally went to sleep.
