I rolled over and sat up quickly smelling bacon. I jumped out if bed and walked quickly to the kitchen.

"Bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon BACOOOON!" I sang at the end grabbing a strip from Maggie's plate. She slapped my hand but I had already eaten it.

"You little fuc-" "Watch yo profanity!" I said. Glenn laughed and I hugged him and I hugged Daryl. Him and Carol were like a mother and a father to me. They were the first ones I met after all. I sat down next to him and ate breakfast. I saw Carl walk in and he looked at me and looked away smirking.

"Good morning everyone!" He said putting a hand on my shoulder and one on the back of Daryl's chair. I ate the rest of my breakfast and I went to go put on some clothes. I put on my green t shirt with my army jeans and combat boots. I put my hair in a pony tail and saw Carl come in.

"Hey, we need your help out there." He said.

I loaded up my gun and clicked it close and walked out. "Let's go then." I said.

I walked outside and started killing them. There was a lot. I was getting a lot of help from Carol though. She was on a roll today.

"You having fun out there Lilly?" Abraham asked me.

"No not really. You should throw out your flask and get out here and help us all." I said smiling.

"I told y'all I'm not risking my life until that damn fence falls!" He yelled. I laughed rolling my eyes but widened them as I saw a walker try to grab my face. I whaled back a little and dug my knife in its head. I tried to get it out but it wasn't budging. I then put my foot on the fence and pulled it with all my might. But that back fired because Glenn fell back a couple feet away from me and pulled the fence with him. I fell back as the walkers came to me.

I grabbed my gun and started running as fast as I could. Carol grabbed me and we started all running back to the 6th gate. Carl ran out yelling for us to get in. "CARL GET BACK!!!" I yelled. The walkers were gaining on us and we ran faster. My legs were about to give out and I fell eventually. But Carl ran out and grabbed me pulling me to my feet and back in the gate. Carol and Glenn shut the gate quickly as me and Carl fell to the ground.

I was on top of him and he was holding me close. We all panted and he asked me if I was okay. I nodded and felt my ankle. It was definitely bruised more. "My ankle..." I breathed. Carol lifted me to my feet and I tried walking on it. I fell but Glenn caught me. "Let's get you to the medical room." He said and they helped me while I was hopping along.

Once we got in the room they set me up on the table and checked my foot. I saw the Xray and I gasped. It was still together with only bad bruises. "Lilly you're pretty lucky. You haven't broken it even though it's gone through all these conditions." Rick said.

They wrapped it up and I spent the rest of the day with Maggie and Judith. We all decided to take a break and just sit down and relax while dinner was getting ready. I was on the couch leaning on Maggie and Carl was at my feet elevating my ankle on his lap.

Soon we ate dinner and I just walked into my room and played with my necklace. It was a gold chain that had a small cross on it.

"What's that?" I heard someone ask. I look over at the door and see Carl.

"You need to stop fricking scaring me." I said. He laughed cheekily and walked over sitting on my bed. I turned to him and he looked at me waiting for me to tell him. I looked away and laughed.

"When I was about 2, my parents gave me this necklace. They were big believers of Him, and they wanted me to have it. They said it would protect me from anything bad that was happening. And I guess it was a good thing that they gave it to me because bad stuff happened to me a lot- or almost did. I used to never be able to cross the street without a car almost hitting me. I could never go to school and not be bullied by the meanest kid. I could never swim properly even if I was wearing floaties. I once got mad at my parents when I was 8 and ripped it off and ran out the front door. I lived on a busy street and I was so caught up in my own anger that I wasn't paying attention when-" I stopped looking down and wiped away my tears. "I got hit by a truck." Carl gasped and tensed up. "I lost so much blood, and I didn't wake up for nearly a month. They thought I was dead at first but they always had a small heartbeat going on. They gave me a month's trial before my family had decided to pull the plug. They put the necklace on me and right before they shut the machine down, I sat up and breathed heavily. Ever since then I have never taken it off. Ever. Never to shower, never to swim, never." I finished.

I looked down wiping my tears and Carl moved closer to me hugging me. He lifted my chin with his fingers and wiped my tears with his thumb. "You know I would always, always keep you safe from harm's way." He said straightly to my face. I smiled and he kissed the top of my head and said good night to me. I said good night back and then thought about what just happened. Stick to your rule Lilly. It will be better in the long run.
