I woke up and got dressed in a blue and white baseball shirt with blue jeans and my converse. Carl and I were having a picnic in the woods today. The walkers had seemed to disappear greatly, and it was really nice.
These past couple weeks have had way too much activity and violence. But now we all could just relax for a bit and calm down. It was nice. We actually could go outside the gates and explore. It was great. Rick and Morgan are able to catch up, Enid is gone, and there is finally some peace here at Alexandria.
We ate some of our lunch but then lied back and watched the clouds go by. It was like a normal day. No walkers, no ambushes, nothing. A perfectly normal day which couldn't have gotten better. But it did.
"Lilly, I need to tell you something. " He said to me.
"Yes Carl?" I said sitting up.
"I'm so glad that this whole apocalypse had happened. Granted we lost many loved ones and all, but I would've never met you and had an exciting wonderful life as I do now if this never happened. I thank God everyday for what he has given me. You are a true gift to me. And I will cherish you for the rest of my life."
I smiled. "I will do the same."
We kissed passionately and laid there for a few more hours telling each other stories and whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears.
We decided to go back, for it was getting dark outside. We carried back our things together but dropped them when we heard Screams and cries from people in Alexandria.
We ran up the gate and saw hundreds of walkers flowing through the streets. People were fighting them off, some getting bit. Tears flowed my eyes. We were doing so good until this!
I look at Carl and he looks back at me with the same expression. We held hands together and looked into each other's sad eyes passionately.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you too." I choked out.
We faced the direction and got our guns together. "Stay close to me. Don't leave me again. Stay by my side." He said.
"Always." I said.
With that, we rushed into the walker packed crowd screeching our battle cries and fought them.
It was good being human. I thought.
Sounds like no one survived, right? Wrong. Some survived. Others didn't. I need not say who, but Carl and I are fine. We stayed together for the rest of our lives, as always.
Always.
