Chapter 15

I woke to a loud yell in my face. I sat up quickly and felt something pasty in my face. I wipe it out of my eyes to see Maggie, Glenn, and Tia all laughing at me. I got out of bed quickly and ran after them. I chased them all around the prison and got Tia first, tripping her as she fell on her face. I then ran for Glenn, who I had jumped on and lightly slapped his face. I finally chased Maggie into the kitchen and got one of the pies and ran up on the fridge.

"Where did she go?" Maggie laughed. And with that I dropped the pie on her head. Everyone started laughing, and I jumped down and lightly punched her in the arm. She hugged me and we all sat down for breakfast.

We saw Carl enter the room and he had some pie on him too. Everyone snickered and I got up a.d walked over to him.

"Hey babe, how did you... sleep?" I said trying not to laugh.

"Why is there pie on me? And you, and Maggie?" He asked confused. We all burst out laughing and I hugged him and kissed him. He hugged back confused and said, "You know you've got something.... uh.... everywhere." He laughed at the end and I nodded because I knew. "Ill get it." He said licking my cheek. Some cheered and I blushed like mad.

After breakfast I took a small shower and decided I was going to relax today. I slipped on a sweater with some leggings and played with Judith. Rick came over and he sat with me and we shared stories for what seemed like hours.

"You know, Glenn is going out to find a new fence, so I'm going to need your help tomorrow." I nodded and then a question entered my mind. I was scared to ask, but it flew out.

"What was Lori like?" I mentally slapped myself. He looked away, then sighed looking back at me.

"She was my wife, as you know. She was a beautiful woman. I loved her so much. She helped me so much when I needed her. She was always ready to help someone, no matter who you were. She was a great mom, and she was a wonderful wife. She always helped me make decisions that would benefit our group, our relationship, our son, and me especially. Being a group leader is a lot, you know. You have to keep it going and make sure everyone is okay. We just lost our good friend Tyreese a couple weeks ago. He was a great friend, and I miss him. Lori always helped me feel better and made me better. But it was all Shane's fault. It's his fault she's gone." He clenched his fist.

"Who was Shane?" I asked. "He was my partner. I was a police officer you know, for the state. He was my partner. We were such good friends, and he betrayed me. He took her away from me and that's why Judith is here. He raped her, and she let it happen. Judith isn't mine, Lilly, she's not. But as far as.I'm concerned, I'm a better dad than Shane ever was, or will be."

"What happened to Shane?" I asked scaredly. Rick looked away and wiped his tears. He sniffed and then looked at me saying, "I killed him. I killed him because he started going crazy.because of this damn world. He ruined my family and that's why Lori is dead. He deserved it though. I'm not dating its right but he deserved it."

I felt sad. I wanted to do something but nothing I could do or say would help, I'm sure. But one question was still not answered. I breathed and asked, "How did Lori die?" He wiped his tears again and said, "You have to ask Carl. Carl or Maggie. I'd prefer Carl because that was his mom, but you can ask either, either and they'll tell you. Carl doesn't really like talking about it though, so I'd ask him gently at first." I nodded and then Rick walked out.

I.couldn't ask Carl right now. Not after just a couple days of dating. I could never. I played more with Judith and took some Advil. I had bad cramps because it was that time of the month again. What are you gonna do?

I laid down and let Judith lay down on my stomach. She was warm, and I needed to keep her that way. I heard Carl walk in and he sat down on the couch with us. I had my legs.draped over his lap and he now was holding Judith. I groaned in pain and Carl rubbed my stomach. He had such a good heart. I smiled and he said, "I'm here with my two favorite babies." I held his.hand.and we stayed there for a bit.

Then dinner was ready and we all ate. We heard Glenn come in and Maggie kissed him and he said the new gate was outside. Well, I guess that was happening tomorrow then.

I walked.in and saw Carl already in bed and I nudged him to move over. He moved and he koalaed me and we fell asleep like that.
