Chapter 52

He kissed me.

I tried to pull away but he held onto me. He held me tighter and closer. I said his name in his mouth and we pulled away. I looked at him with a strange face and he looked back at me the same way.

"Why?" I asked.

"Lilly, I'm sorry. I just... oh my God." He said.

"What's wrong with you? Tell me!" I said sternly.

"I just love you! Okay. Not the lover kind of way but I just love you as my best friend! And I just love kissing your lips! I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." He said sliding down burying his face in his knees.

"Zach, it's okay. I'm your best friend and you know that. It's okay." I said kneeling down to him and hugging him. He hugged me back tightly.

We heard a voice ask if anyone was here. I looked down to see Pete. We climbed down and walked to the dinner hall.

We all ate dinner and I got dressed for bed. I went to go see Carl in his house. I walked up the steps and opened the door. Carl was putting Judith to bed and I watched.

He gently laid her down in the crib and covered her in the small blanket. He kissed her on her forehead and said I love you to her.

I leaned in the doorway and smiled. He was definitely going to be a good dad in the future. Hopefully there will be a future. One where all this would just stop and go away.

He turned back to leave and jumped when he saw me. I smiled and he held his chest.

"You scared me." He said breathing heavily.

"What did you think I was?" I asked walking toward him.

"A walker. Or worse. Enid." He said.

"What's the difference?" I said jokingly.

He smiled and chuckles and brought me in for a long kiss. His one hand stayed in my cheek while the other traveled my hip and my butt. He squeezed my one buttcheek and I pulled away.

"Sorry it's squishy." He said. I laughed and he smiled gently pushing me into his bed room.

We had a little make out session and some other things. We laid in bed together ( fully clothed ) and I hummed a tune in which he and I fell asleep to.
