Oh Jesus. Was all I could think. In all my years of fighting in this war, and being as scared as I was, I've never been more scared than I was right now.
I gripped Carl's hand tightly, as did he. We walked around in the group, and I could hear Sam whimpering for his mom. We tried our best to ignore him, but he was just so annoying. I looked over at Brianna and Zach, and they looked as scared as I was. Brianna looked a little less scared though, she looked more calm. I don't know how anyone could be so calm right now.
Glancing around nonchalantly, the walkers passed us. Every now and then they would look at us, but then be on their way. I immediately thought of Daryl, Sasha and Abraham. I hoped that they were okay.
Rick led us away from them and huddled everyone together. Letting out a breath of air I put my chin on Carl's shoulder, he rubbed my back. Sam hugged his mom and she held him close.
"Alright, we have to move on to plan B. A few guns and sheets with walker guts ain't gon' do us good for long. We're not gonna go to the armory though. No, we're gonna get us the vehicles, drive out, then drive back. There's just too many of them to fight off.
Sam's mom nodded, but said, " What about Judith though?" We turned our heads. Ugh, another obstacle.
"Ill take her." Someone said. We turned and saw Gabriel, a promising look on his face. "Ill keep her safe in my church and wait for you guys to get back."
"Can you do this?" Michonne asked quietly.
"Yes. I can. I will." He said to Rick. Rick nodded and Carl let go of my hand and gave Judith to Gabriel. He tucked her under his sheet, silencing her whimpers.
Sam's mom then told Gabriel to take him too, but Sam refused.
"Mom I'm not leaving you. I can keep going." He said.
"Sam I-"
"Mom. Please. I can't leave you." We waited for her response when she finally nodded and Gabriel went off.
"Ill keep her safe." He said walking away. Tears formed in Rick's eyes as they faded away from our sight. Carl even shed a tear.
"Carl, look at me." I said taking his hand. "He's gonna make it. She'll be fine." Carl shook his head and held me close. "I can't lose another family member Lilly. I just can't." I rubbed his back and wiped his tears. Moments later, we all held hands and were on our way again.
Night soon fell. Everything was scarier than I imagined. My heart sped up a lot, and often times a cold wind would blow. It was so cold that I couldn't even feel my fingers, or Carl's hand. However, things were going pretty well, until Sam broke away from Rick's hand. He stopped and looked around, crying. His mom and Ron tried to get him to snap out of it.
"Sam, come on. Don't look at them, look at me. You can do this." His mom pleaded for him to take her hand.
"Sam, Sam just look at mom. Sam!" Ron said.
I shook my head. I knew that this was his breaking point.
"I can't- AGGGHH!" He screamed making me jump. Walkers came to him and bit him up down and sideways. Taking away bits and pieces of him, Sam's mom screamed. Ron shook a little, and wobbled. He looked like he was about to pass out. Zach took him and lightly slapped him to get him to snap out of it. Sam's mom screamed louder, and it was drawing attention.
"Shit." I mumbled to Brianna.
"Holy shit." She said.
Walkers came and bit Sam's mother too. And she let them, falling to the ground. Ron gasped, and tears started streaming down his face. Rick cried too, stopping and shaking his head mumbling no repeatedly.
