Chapter 40

I woke up to a Sun shiny day. It was really nice out. Cold, but still nice. I look over at Brianna and she's playing on her phone.

"Hey." I said smiling.

"She looked over at me and rolled over to face me. "I was wondering when you would wake up." She said giggling.

I let out a laugh and got out of bed. She handed me a black and red plaid shirt with a black cami. I put on my black jeans and combat boots. She really had a cool style.

I walked with her downstairs and we ate breakfast. I saw Enid feeding Carl. My heart swelled and Brianna rolled her eyes and pat my back. "Hey, what did I say yesterday?" She asked me. I smiled halfway and nodded sitting down eating breakfast.

I felt someone wrap their arms around my waist. My eyes widened. "Who is this?" I asked. I look to my right and see Zach smiling. "Hey!" He said. I breathed out in relief and said hi.

Brianna smacked his arm. He ignored it and squinted at me.

"What?" I asked blushing a little. He looked at me then at Brianna. "Think she's ready for the arena?" He asked. She looked at me and nodded her head smiling.

"What? Hold up? What's going on?" I asked.

"The arena. They take two people to fight off one another and see who is stronger." Brianna said. I widened my eyes again. "Um, I don't think I'm ready for that."

Sasha and Tia came over and sat with us. "I heard something about who is stronger?" Sasha said. I laughed and Brianna and Zach looked at me confused.

"Guys these are my friends Sasha and Tia. Sasha loves a good challenge." I said chuckling.

"She'll be good for the arena." Zach said. "But I want to see you in there Lilly." He said putting a finger on my cheek pulling it towards him.

I smiled and Brianna scoffed. "Um, ew Zach. You probably have like herpes or something." She said. I laughed out loud. "Okay. Let me see what it's about."

They took me out there and I wished I never asked. These two guys were beating each other up silly.

"It's training for when we encounter enemies." Zach said. Michonne and Adan were next. She beat him easily. I clapped and high fived her. She was a savage.

"Your turn Lilly." She said. "Huh?" She pulled me aside. "Come on. People here won't take you seriously if you don't do something. I want them to know who their dealing with before they have a chance to fight you." She said.

"I dunno Michonne." I said.

Zach came over to me. "Alright. We'll do a practice round. Okay?" I nodded and he stepped back asking me if I was ready. "I'm going to throw a punch okay? You dodge it." I nodded and waited for him.

He threw a quick punch, but I dodged it quicker. Some people whoa-ed. He threw another one and I dodged it again. He smiled at me. I smiled back and he walked away. I stood there as he then ran back to me trying to air kick me. I looked and fell back on my toes touching the ground with my hands then jumping back up.

He fell and I ran to him fake punching him. He dodged it kicking my legs down and I fell. He tried to step on my but I grabbed his leg and pushed him down. I cartwheeled over him and held him down.

He looked up at me and I smiled. "Was that good?" I asked. He smiled and I pulled him up hugging him with people cheering. I saw Carl looking at me sadly while Enid was trying to get his attention. I looked away sadly. I missed him.

I patrolled the gate with Brianna and Carol for a while. We talked a lot and got to know more about her. When we were done with our shift Carl, Enid and Rick went up. When I passed Enid, she bumped into me and gave me a dirty look. I flipped her off and she opened her mouth in disgust.

I rolled my eyes and ran go my room. I cried a little. I needed Carl back. I needed him. Oh but why should he care? He doesn't care about me. I should've just stuck with My Rule. Although this time he didn't die, he left me. And that's what hurt me most of all.

I heard someone walking down the hallway and enter the room.

"I'd you're a half- dead infected bastard, kill me. If you're a nosy ass human armed with anything, feel free to kill me too." I mumbled.

I felt someone jump on my bed and lay down next to me. It was Zach. "Now why would I want to kill you baby?" He asked batting his eyes. I rolled my eyes and smiling a little. "What's wrong?" He asked squeezing my hand.

"I feel as if I want to kill everyone I know and love." I said.

"Why?" He asked getting closer to me.

"Well it's just that.." I started but he got closer. "...I'm kinda feeling down about..." he put his leg over mine and got closer. "...my ex boyfriend and..." He wrapped his arm around my waist. "What are you doing?" I asked scaredly but in an excited kind of way.

He looked into my eyes and traced his finger on my jawline. "You're so beautiful." He said. "What? Zach I..." "Kiss me." He said. "What? What are you-" and with that he kissed me.

I stayed still for a while as he kissed me. I tried pulling away but he put his hand on the back of my head and pulled me closer. I felt myself slowly giving in and eventually started kissing back. I felt him smirk against my lips.

"Finally" he said before pushing his lips back onto mine roughly. He rubbed my sides and I rubbed his shoulders. They felt so muscular. He rolled on top of me straddling my waist. Carl and I used to do this. I felt him playing with the rim of my shirt. He pulled it off and he pulled back to take his off.

"Zach I can't so this now. I don't want to have a child now." I said. He smiled and nodded. "Its just making out Lilly." I smiled and he returned kissing me.

Carl's P.O.V

Seeing Lilly with that shithead really made my blood boil. I loved her, but I loved Enid too. I decided to go talk to her. When I reached her room I heard a moan come from the room. I got my knife ready and looked in the door. What I saw broke my heart a little. Zach was in top of her shirtless and she was below him kissing him. That's what I did with her!

I fought back tears and ran out into my room. I slammed the door and let out a scream. I cried into my lap but felt someone rubbing my back. I look to see Enid.

"Baby what's wrong?" She asked.

"Lilly." I said.

She shook her head and said, "Thats why I warned you about her. She's evil. But I love you Carl." I sat up. "Enid, why do you love me?" I asked.

"Because you're so cute and a wonderful person-" "Are you sure it's not just to get back at Lilly?" I interrupted her. She started to tear up. "You believe her? Oh my- *whimpers* *cries*."

"No I just asked a question. Okay?" She hugged me and I hugged her back. I loved her but my heart was still set on Lilly.

Lilly's P.O.V

After that we had dinner and I didn't see Carl there. Enid was giving me dirty looks but I ignored her. I hated her. But i was concerned for Carl though. I decided that I would go and see what was wrong. It was against My Rule, but whatever.

I'd do it tomorrow though. I'm too tired.
