Hi, I'm Jace Lukas Edwards. I'm 11 years old and the only son of Jade Amelia Edwards and Perrie Louise Edwards.
⚠️This chapter deals with derogatory terms, homophobia and omnism (not respcting all religions)⚠️
"Heard your parents are f***ots!"
"Where's your dad at, eh?"
"Your whole family is going to hell"
"Go f*ck yourself" is just some of the things that I hear on a daily basis all because my parents are both females. I get picked on by these homophobic kids. The school has done nothing as its a very christian secondary school. It gets run by these christians who claim "being gay is a sin", "God hates the homosexuals" and the term "f***ot" is thrown around more than anything. You may be thinking, why don't you just change schools and that reason would be because there ain't that many schools around. It's not just at school but throughout the neighborhood that I live in also known as the most homophobic area of London. There are some other LGBTQ+ couples in the area who get the exact same treatment as us.
"Alright class, today we will be learning about what being a christian is like." My religious studies teacher Mrs. Dennison yells at us. "Now, us christians follow god and as you all know we read a verse from the bible every morning." We all grab our bibles, now my family isn't really religious that much but we do respect each and every religion but my school just teaches Christianity and that is it! We do our verse reading of the day.
"Okay, class. As we know, in this area there are a student who have f***ots as parents and we all know that God hates the homosexuals!" Mrs. Dennison barks. I sigh and get through the rest of the day with my head down.
Back at home:
"Where would we enroll Jace, darling?" I hear mama (Perrie is Mammy and Jade is mama) talking to mammy.
"I'm not sure but what I am sure is that we need to move out of this place. I'm done with being discriminated against, babe" mammy responds. I walk into the living room with my head down.
"Hey, baby. How was school?" Mammy asks me gently.
"Those homophobics still not accepting us, I'm taking, monkey?" Mama asks and I nod.
"Why are they like this, mama?" I ask.
"I'm not too sure, but I do know is we need to move someplace else." Mama replies "We could always just buy a house up in Shields, they are very LGBTQ+ friendly up north. And plus, we'll be a lot closer to our family, Pez." Mama tells mammy.
"That honestly would be a lot better" Mammy agrees.
A few days later:
We have moved up north to Shields and had a wonderful 5 hour car journey. All the way from South London to Laygate, South Shields. We have moved to a nice bigger house near the seaside and near Nana and Papa (Jade's parents)'s house. I also have moved to a new school who accept my parents sexualites. Life is a whole lot better now.
