Hi, I'm Brooklyn Anthony Gray, I'm 9 years old. I'm the youngest son of Andre and Leigh-Anne Gray. I have 2 older twin brothers named Elijah and Asher who are 19 . I have diagnosed epilepsy and it sucks big time.
Brooklyn's POV: I was born extremely ill and with a very bad immune system meaning I can't attend public school in fear of catching some sort of illness, so I have to do online school. Among that I also was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 3 years old so that isn't good.
"Brooks, wake up." Mum says, opening up my bedroom door.
"I'm up, I'm up!" I complain and sigh as Mum shuts the door. I'm exactly like any moody ass pre-teen, I'm at that stage where girls no longer have cooties. I roll out of bed and open the curtains, the sun waking me up immediately. "Bloody hell" I groan. I slip on some simple clothes and head downstairs.
"Morning, kiddo." Dad greets me as I walk into the kitchen. "How are we this morning?" I grab my tablets from mum and take them before answering "I'm a bit moody, dad but mostly fine." He nods and continue to eat his breakfast.
I sigh and tell my mum "Mum, I really wish I could go to school." She sighs and tells me "Sweetheart, you know we can't do that. You know your immune system is too weak that if anyone gave you even a case of the common cold, it could be fatal." I just sigh before she tells me "You keep your chin up, sweetheart and go on and grab some breakfast."
A hour later: I mostly just suffer from tonic-clonic seizures (I did research into the topic of epilepsy to not offend anyone who does actually suffer from it. To those who do not know, there are multiple types of seizures and tonic-clonic is the one that people automatically think of when seizures happen). I sit there in front of my laptop, reading all the assignments on the screen, trying to not stress. Stress is the main cause of my seizures but it don't help and I fall to the floor only able to shout "Mum!" Before going into the seizure.
Leigh-Anne's POV: I hear my youngest boy yell for my name and I immediately head upstairs into his room to find him in the middle of his seizure. I yell for Andre who seconds later bolts into the room. We've experienced this loads of times so we know exactly what to do. I grab a pillow from his bed and place it under his head as Andre begins timing how long it goes on.
2 minutes later, the seizure comes to a end and I kneel down next to him and tell him gently "Hey, sweetheart. It's mum, you've just had a seizure. Are you okay?" He nods "You have a little rest here for a few minutes and I'll be back in a bit" He nods again, a couple tears rolling down his cheek. I just wish I could take all his struggles away.
