Hi, I'm Kieran Jordan William Stephens, the autistic 13 year old son of Jordan and Jade Stephens. I have a younger sister named Ainsley Jade Isabelle Stephens who is 8 years old.
(⚠️Contains ablelism⚠️)Jordan's POV: Life has always been so difficult for Kieran in terms of school, being bullied since he started school, being made to change schools just because of his autism, treated like a toddler by some teachers. Me and Jade have actually considered sending him to a special school or even homeschool him but due to our very busy schedules; public school has always been the only option available.
Now he's at secondary school, he is still being treated the same by students and staff and it is extremely infuriating as a parent. I am genuinely getting sick and tired of just like any other person would, so today, I have taken it upon myself to go and sort this shit out.
I arrive with Kieran outside the school and he gets out of the car just like normal, I take a deep breath in before getting out of the car and following him inside.
"Daddy, why are you following me inside?" My son asks me, pulling at the straps of his rucksack whilst pulling a puzzled expression on his face. "Don't you have work to do?"
"I have way more important things to worry about than work today, buddy." I tell him, patting his back. "You go and do what you have to, daddy has some things to sort out." He still looks quite confused but he nods before heading out of my sight.I enter the main reception of the school and look around the entrance, it is quite a nice place but the thing that makes me laugh internally is the ironic anti-bullying display on the wall; a big sign that just reads 'No Bullying Zone!' with a stupid picture of two cartoon characters fighting and a big red cross on top.
"Ah, hello sir. How may I help you?" A lady at the desk asks me, smiling at me.
"Hi, I was wondering if I could speak to the head? The name is Jordan Stephens" I respond and she nods, leading me into the headmaster's office.
"Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Stephens is here to see you." The lady informs the headmaster before I walk into the office."Hello there sir, I am the headmaster here, the name is Daniel Jacobs. How may I help you?" The headmaster introduces himself, offering to shake my hand. "Please take a seat."
"I'm here to discuss my son in Year 9 by the name of Kieran Stephens" I tell him, his face immediately drops when his name leaves my tounge "He has been telling me that students and some teachers have been discriminating and treating him like a baby just because of his autism." Mr. Jacobs nervously coughs before sitting up, obviously trying to think up an excuse for this outrageous behaviour."Sir, I promise you that our school has a strict no tolerance for discrimination of any kind and that I know my staff would not treat a student like that." He smiles at me in a very unconvincing manner, as if he wrote down what to say if this was ever brought up to him.
"I know that my son would never lie to me about something like this, I've seen this happen to him before and frankly if I find out that this is going on and you are not doing anything about it, expect me to sue this establishment because my son is vulnerable and as a father, I will do anything in this universe to keep him from ever having to experience the shit that he went through in infant school!" I defend Kieran by bringing up the previous incidents as his junior school as an example.I go to leave the office but this bastard stops me in my tracks with something that he mutters under his coffee breath with a laugh at the end.
"It's not like that kid even has much of a future anyways..."
"What did you just say?" I decide to interrogate him to which he doesn't even claim to not have said anything.
"You heard what I said, Mr. Stephens. That child of yours has no future with the bloody mental disorders that he's going through! A child like that shouldn't be in a public school like this, he should be homeschooled or in a special school! A child like that will be a distraction to other students whom actually care about their educations unlike Kieran!" Mr. Jacobs smiles in a unsettling way.
"You don't fucking talk about my son like that, don't you know who the hell I am!? I could ruin your entire life in just a second!" I have a bloody go at him, threateningly. "You keep your filthy and disgusting mouth shut about my family otherwise you won't have any teeth left in there, you hear me!?"As I leave the office, I walk up to the reception.
"What classroom is Kieran Stephens currently in?" I inquire, keeping my internal rage inside.
"Room 118, sir. Why may I ask?" The lady inquires but I'm already gone. I find Room 118 and knock at the door."Hello and who might you be?" The teacher asks me as I scan the room for my son.
"Jordan Stephens, mate. I'm here to collect my son, Kieran Stephens." I tell her, signalling for Kieran to come with me. "Come on, buddy."
"Sir, you cannot just do that..." The teacher tells me but I just ignore her and Kieran follows me out of the room.
"I can do it when he's not a student here anymore." I assure her before walking out, grimancing at all of the kids.We head to the car after the receptionist lets us out and Kieran seems a little puzzled why I took him out of class.
"Daddy, what's going on?" My son questions as he gets into the car. "Why did you pull me out of my English lesson?"
"To put it short, buddy, I had a chat with the headmaster and he said some mean things about you so I'm taking you out of that school and me and mumma are gonna homeschool you and your sister from now on." I inform him, putting his rucksack in the back of the car before getting into the driver's seat. "Do you wanna go grab something to eat? You didn't eat any breakfast this morning..."Kieran gets all giddy and accepts my offer for food so we head off and let's just say that I'm never sending either of my children to public school again....
