Hi, I'm Arlo Matthew Kennedy Gray. I'm 16 years old and the eldest Gray son having 2 younger brothers named Jesse David Morgan Gray who's 12 and Nathaniel James Isaiah Gray who's 8.

Leigh-Anne's POV: I hear some muffled music coming from Arlo's room. I peer through the mini crack and see him just staring at his maths revision book. I then pull my phone out to check the time, 11:58pm. Arlo has his GCSE exams this week and he's been studying non-stop since last October. He usually studies for 2 hours each day after school before finishing any homework, so it's a genuine shock to see him up this late.

Arlo's POV: 'I Want It That Way' by the Backstreet Boys blasts through my wireless headphones as I crack on with some intense studying. I'll just have a red bull energy drink tommorow, fuck sleep! I peek at my phone and see 00:00am. Time for bed, I guess? I switch my headphones off, put my phone on charge, put my book away and cuddle down into the covers.
"Arlo, I know you wanna succeed in your GCSE's, love, but you really need to not stay up this late studying." Mum tells me, making me jump a little bit.
"Mum, you know how important my bloody exams are! Leave me the fuck alone!" I snap at her, uncontrollably.
"You don't speak to me like that!" She whisper yells at me. "We will be having a serious conversation about your attitude tomorrow after school!" Fuck, I'm already stressed about my damn exams but now my ass is fucking grass.

The next day at school: I arrive early to the exam hall, my best mate Seth walks up to me.
"Hey, Arlo. You ready for our first Maths exam?" He asks me, happily. Seth is a major nerd but in the really intelligent way. If you read his mock exam results and knew him personally, you'd be shocked. Seth also loves parties and video games but just likes his studying habits.
"Dude, I was up late last night. Studying that one textbook and my mum caught me. And because I was really tired, out of nowhere, I snapped at her so my ass is fucking grass once I get home!" I tell him, he chuckles and soon enough ws get let into the exam hall.

During the exam: Luckily, all the questions on this paper are exactly what I studied last night so it's simple. But then as I look around the room, I can see multiple students either stressing really hard or look like they haven't slept in a month, eyes puffy and constantly yawning. I get through the exam paper pretty quickly but also making sure to read every single question thoroughly. Now I just gotta wait 5 minutes for the time to actually be up.

After the exam: 5 minutes goes a lot slower when you're just staring at a clock. I can hear behind me all the other Year 11s, panicking and discussing answers to questions. Fortunately, that was my last period so, I grab my rucksack from my form room and head to the train station with my little brother Jesse. My school is way too far away from home to be taken and then picked up so I get on the 3:50pm train that takes me literally just down the road from my house.

Hopping off the station, I make the daily trip down the road, all the while, Jesse, my 12 year old brother is asking me all about how my exams went today.
"Is it as hard as my teachers are telling me?" Jesse keeps asking, I simply shrug and pull my rucksack straps tighter.
"It's fucking simple if you study enough, I'll tell you that, lil bro. I'd start studying when you get to Year 10." I reccomend, opening the gate. "Now, Mum and Dad are probably gonna be pissed off after what happened last night." He nods and when we get in, he bolts upstairs.
"Arlo Matthew Kennedy Gray, come here immediately" Dad tells me, as the door shuts. I take a deep breathe, hanging my rucksack and taking my shoes off before heading into the kitchen.
"Sit down." Dad instructs and so I do. "Do you know why we are mad at you?" I nod sheepishly, knowing damn well that my phone and Xbox are being taken away for a week. I pull my phone out my pocket and hand it to him.
"I got angry at mum last night and swore at her." I reply, looking at the table.
"Hey, look me in the eyes when I'm talking to you" Dad tells me, I look up at him. "Now repeat what you just said whilst maintaining eye contact."
"The reason I'm in trouble is because I got angry at mum last night and swore at her." I repeat, maintaining eye contact.
"Good, you know the consequences of your actions?" He reminds me. I nod, hesitantly.
"My phone and Xbox is gone for a week unless it's urgent and I'm not aloud to go out with my friends this weekend." I tell him, he nods. Mum and Dad has never been one of these parents who yells at their children because it can damage relationships.
"Good, now go unplug your xbox from your room and bring it down then once your mother gets home, you apologise to her." Dad explains "Am I clear?" I nod so he then says "Good, now go do it."

I unplug my xbox and then sense my younger brother Nathaniel standing behind me.
"Arlo, do you wanna play with me?" He asks, sweetly. I sigh and just reply "Not today, bro. Not in the best mood."
"Okay, sorry for asking." He replies, walking off. I carry my xbox downstairs and put it on the table.
"Good, now go study." Dad instructs and I follow what he says.

I've never really been a troublemaker, honestly but I do get in trouble easily if I screw up. I'm just laying on my bed, studying when I hear the front door shut. I'm guessing it's mum so I get up and head downstairs and my guesses are correct.
"Hey, honey" Dad greets her from the kitchen. She smiles at him before noticing my presence. I remember what dad told me and walk downstairs.
"Mum, I wanna apologise for what happened last night. I was really tired and just uncontrollably swore at you and I'm very sorry for it." I apologise and she smiles.
"Thank you for apologising but please mind your language next time." She replies, smiling. "I accept your apology."
"So how did your exams go today?" Mum asks, switching the subject.
"They were really simple, I read through each and every question thoroughly." I reply, honestly. "Some kids were struggling hard." She smiles, before pulling me into a hug. Look on the bright side, at least I'm not dead.
