•Chapter 17•

*Emily's POV*
I sprinted across field and forgot to say goodbye to Matt. I turned around and waved, he smiled and waved back. I kept running towards the school. I did not want to be late for Ms. Smith's class or I would get nothing but hell. I ran down the hall and got there just in time. James walked into the classroom in front of me. He sat down and as I walked by he mouthed out the words "Where were you?" I sat in my chair and said "With Matt." James just raised his eyebrows and looked in the front of the room. Then, class began. Again, we went over the Pythagorean Theorem. Then at the end of class she let us do the homework. It was pretty easy actually. I finished and still had 5 minutes left of class. Then I heard someone whisper scream my name. It was Matt. I looked at Matt and smiled, then I thought about Ms. Smith. I looked over at her and she glared at me and said "Ms. Cook, would you mind shutting the door? I think there is a draft coming from the hall." I got up and did what she said with no hesitation. I sat back down and waited out the last few minutes. Then the bell rang. I got up and walked into the hall. As I walked out someone ever so lovely ran into me and my open backpack flew to the ground. I grunted and started to pick up my things that were strewed throughout the hallway. The only one who seemed to notice my struggle was James, Well at least he was the only one who cared to help. When all my things were back in my bag I thanked him and started to walk off. Then James lightly tapped my shoulder, "Emily?" He asked kindly. "Yes James?" I said just wanting to get to my next class. "Do you think I could have your number?" He said scratching the back of his head. "Sure" I took out a piece of paper wrote it down and handed it to him. "Thanks" he shouted cause by now I was halfway down the hall. Then with a big smile, I walked in Ms. Pharaoh's class ready to read with Matt. I took my seat and pulled out my book, Romeo and Juliet. "Back in the same places as yesterday!" Ms. Pharaoh exclaimed to the class. Matt and I went to the hall and sat down.

*Matt's POV*
Since we only got to finish reading Act 1 Scene 1, Emily decided it was her turn to read Act 1 Scene 2. She's started to read, "Capulet.
But Montague is bound as well as I,
In penalty alike; and 'tis not hard, I think,
For men so old as we to keep the peace." She kept reading and I watched her lips mouth out words. Everything else was hazed and all I heard was her voice reading. She looked up at me and made a sort of funny face. "Matt?" She asked concerned. I snapped out of my trance and replied with a "Hey what's up?" It came out not so smooth. She laughed and went on with the book. Then just as she finished Act 1 Scene 2, Ms. Pharaoh told us to come back into the classroom. We all filed in as the bell rang. Everyone scrambled around to get their bags and rushed out of the door. Emily was just about to leave too but then she turned around and said "Bye Matt! See you at lunch." I smiled and headed towards the door, then I stopped in my tracks and thought to myself "Lunch..... Amanda....."
