•Chapter 21•

*Matt's POV*
I was carrying Emily back to her house in the pouring rain when we hear police sirens. They were going to James' house. I didn't want Emily to get into trouble, so I put her down and we ran. We ran all the way back to her house in the pouring rain. She looked at me, both of us panting for air, and laughed. She just started to laugh hysterically. I couldn't help but laugh too. The whole night was one big joke.

*Emily's POV*
When we finished laughing Matt walked me up to my door. I checked my phone, it was 10:30. We left a lot sooner than I thought we would. I couldn't let Matt walk home in this storm so I said, "Come in" with a smile while unlocking the door. I opened the door with Matt following me. We walked into the living room. It was dark so I turned on the lights to find my sister and her boyfriend, Jake, making out on the couch. "Woah" I said quickly turning them back off. I heard a burst of laughter from Jake and Matt but I knew Melissa was embarrassed. "Let's go upstairs since this room is occupied." I said while laughing. Matt shook his head still laughing and followed me upstairs to my room. "Want to watch a movie?" I asked shutting the door. "Which movie?" Matt said with a silly expression. "Which ever one you want." I replied. He raised his eyebrows with doubt. "Netflix" I said laughing and making a hand motion. "Ohhhhh" he said with a smirk. "How about The Conjuring?" He continued still smirking. "Ummmm" I said while searching Netflix. The conjuring popped up, "Sure" I said feeling fearless. "Really, ok" he said impressed. I pressed play and laid next to him with an appropriate distance between us. Within 10 minutes of the movie the appropriate space disappeared. I was completely burrowed into Matt's arm. He held he stroked my hair when the scary parts came on to calm me down. I put my head on his chest and laid there thinking while Matt watched the movie. I thought of what Amanda said. She said I was Matt's rebound girl. I knew I believed I was once before, but I thought it was just me. But when Amanda said it, it was no longer just me who felt that way. Was that true? I didn't know I was crying until I heard Matt say, "You ok Emily?" At first I didn't know what he meant by this, so I got up and I saw tear stains on Matt's shirt. "Oh" I said wiping my eyes " I'm fine" I hated lying to him, but I didn't want him to worry. He gave me a look of disbelief and I spilled. "Ok I'm not" I said truthfully. Matt paused the movie and turned on the lamp on my bedside table, then faced me. "What's wrong?" He asked grabbing my knee. "It's, well, Amanda" I said. Even at the sound of her name Matt looked disgusted. "What did she do?" He started, "Cause if she did something to you I'll" I cut him off by saying, "She said I was your rebound girl" He looked at me confused but mad but sad all at the same time. It was a very hard expression to read. "I thought we already went over this" he said looking into my eyes. "We did, but it was different when it came from Amanda, it's like agreed with her. But I'm not sure if I do, I jut don't want to be played." I said a little too fast. Matt just stared up at me and said, "Emily Cook, I am in love with you, and only you. And if you don't believe me right now, I will never stop trying to prove myself." I just looked down at his hands that were now joined with mine. This was the first time Matt really said that he loved me. He always knew what to say to me. I looked at him in the eyes and said, "Matthew Espinosa, I love you so so much, and I will never stop doing so" I kissed him on the cheek and he shut the light off and turned on the movie again. I snuggled up to him and just as I was about to doze off, my tv paused the movie and showed a flood warning. "Do you want to stay the night?" I asked him. "I thought you'd never ask" he replied kissing me on the forehead. He got under the covers and so did I, I put my head on his chest still holding his hand and said, "I love you Matt" he replied with "I love you ok Emily" then I fell asleep.
