•Chapter 19•

*Emily's POV*
I had Melissa, my older sister, drive me to the football field at my school since my mom was away for work again. "Have fun, but no too much fun" Melissa said with a wink as she pulled up to the school. I just laughed and shut the door behind me. I walked towards the field and saw Matt and James in their football uniforms. Matt waved to me and motioned me to go over, so I did. "Hey guys!" I said with a smile. "You look beautiful" Matt said smiling. "Not too bad yourself Espinosa" I replied. James cleared his throat making noise to get our attention. "Hey, I'm here too?" He said laughing. "Oh how could I forget about you James?" I said mocking him. Their coach called them to the field. "See you later" Matt said winking and running away. Did he like me? This boy was confusing. I sat in the front row of the bleachers so I could see Matt. Within the first few minutes he made a touchdown. He was surprisingly really good. While the game was going on I heard someone speak to me, "Is this seat taken?" Asked one of Amanda's friends. "Um... No it's not" I said trying to be polite to make a good impression. "Shouldn't you be on the field? I thought you were a cheerleader?" I asked truthfully. "No, I'm not into that stuff" she said with a giggle. We talked for a while and I ended up really liking her. We exchanged numbers and kept talking. Finally, I have a female friend at this school. When the game was over we went our separate ways so I could find Matt. Everyone went on the field to celebrate Matt's teams win. I went onto the field to find Matt. There was a swarm of people all around me. I couldn't see that well, The only source of light was from the lights shining on the field. While I was in the crowd someone pushed me and I fell. I couldn't get up because I twisted my ankle on the way down and it really hurt. I started to cry in pain. No one seemed to notice me. I felt invisible, I felt helpless. Then, I felt someone pick me up, it was Matt. "Thank god, I thought I would never get out of there" I said burrowing my face into his neck. "It's ok Emily, I'm here now" he said. He set me down near the big Gatorade container that was meant for the players and took out his towel he used for sweat. He reached his hand in the container and grabbed some ice and put it in the towel. He placed my ankle on his lap and iced it. "My hero" I said smirking. He just looked up and stuck his tongue out at me. A few minutes later I was able to walk on my ankle. We started to walk towards his friends car. "So I know this might be bad timing, but do you want to come to an after party that James is throwing?" More time to spend with Matt? I was in. "Sure" I said with a smile. I texted Melissa and told her I would be back home by 12:00 a.m. Her, being my good older sister, agreed and kept it between us. Matt and I got into Matt's friends car and we were off to James' house. "Hi, I'm Mike" said the driver of the car looking in the mirror so he could see my face. "Hi, I'm Emily" I said warmly. "Oh I know" he said laughing looking at Matt. Matt punched Mike's arm playfully signalling for him to shut up. I just blushed. We pulled up to James' house and my jaw dropped.
