"Wait" I murmured flushed as Nik put me on his bed

"Do you hear that" he froze along with me as the sound of cars pulling up came from outside

Growing up this lifestyle the one thing you learn is that to never leave or ignore something, sometimes even the littlest things should be checked out and never just brushed away

As we both started to regain our breath we walked to the one sided window in Niks room and looked out, the sight of two lines of men in a stand off

"The row closest to us is my guards and the Monteverde's" Nik pointed out

"The second is the marks fucking hell" I slipped on one of Niks shirts and a pair of shorts

"Weapons" I spoke as he put clothes on, causing him to point to his desks bottom draw

"Beautiful" I smiled picking up a dagger "beautiful is what you use when describing shoes or a dress not daggers" Alfie panted running in

"I came through the kitchen window, it's a mother fucker to fit through but we need to move now"

"Phoenix" Nik murmured from his place at the window just as Doja came walking in

"They're not Marks agents"

"What do you mean there not-" I went along with my plan all along

"There the Salvatore's" pin drop silence ensured as i geared up the most I could

Alfie spoke next "we don't have time to wonder who's who we need to get out of here, there's a helicopter waiting on the roof"

He went out the kitchen window first with Doja in his arms as gun shots echoed outside, Nik gesturing for me to go next "you go first" I spoke to Nik

"I'll be behind you go" I kissed his cheek knowing that was a lie

He looked doubtful but did as I said anyways the sound of gunshots coming closer as he made it out the window

"My plan wasn't supposed to happen this soon but fuck it" I grabbed a machine gun and headed to the window it, the sound of the helicopter flying away and distant shouting

I walked across his apartment and opened a window so I could if any of the agents were fighting

I knew Lucien would send men after me, Leonardo may be capo but some men still saw Lucien as there current leader. I had Silas on the inside telling me everything I need to know. He told me about how that he was forced to stay in the house and watch them betray me

Because of him I was one step ahead

I had spoken to Alfie earlier about how fast there mafias emergency rate is and sorted everything out ensuring the second he got wind of an attack a helicopter would make it here in time

I switched off the recording of gun shot sounds using my phone

Aleksander had my current location at all times since my necklace, clothes and hair bubble had a tracking chip incase anything was to happen.

The Monteverde's along with Levine agents made it seem as though the attack was not known by any one and we were outnumbered

The truth being each Monteverde member was told before hand

"If she's our next queen, the grandchild of Chris then her orders will be fulfilled" Lor spoke in front of all the agents

"He's right what is it you need" one of the agents asked

"I need you all prepared I want 12 of the most skilled members on patrol outside Niks apartment today there will an attack. I want you to act like this attack was surprising and you were not told about it" I began

"You will only engage in a fight if it is initiated by the other side, any mention of this meeting to anyone outside this room will end in immediate death" my tone went deadly, doing what I had to do

"And if Chris asks" one of them asked

"Then you say the truth, you were instructed by me to patrol Niks apartment"

I walked out of the apartment clapping my hands twice both sides backing up and putting there guns away.

I picked up the phone answering Nik "Nik no time for friendly gossip right now" I joked contrasting the current situation "I need you to tell the helicopter to head to the ball happening in great hall"

"Fucking hell Nyx what the fuck is wrong with you!" He spoke "do you know how ducking pissed I am" he hissed "you could have died, why didn't you follow me"

I pursed my lips as I got on my motorbike, no helmet or anything and started heading to the ball where I knew Rowena and Lucien were

"Nik listen I have a plan okay, I have a plan"

"And you didn't decide to tell me it why, after everything we've been through together the whole I'm with you till every star in the galaxy dies and you don't trust me" he spat, I understood why he was angry

"I trust you more than I trust myself Nik" I sighed "and you know it, I wanted to tell you I did but, I'm scared" I admitted turning a sharp corner after running a red light

"I'm scared that once you see what I've just done and what I'm about to do you'll look at me different"

He scoffed as though the idea in itself was ridiculous "even if I was to look at you differently Phoenix it wouldn't mean shit, it wouldn't stop my feelings for you"

It was like time stopped at a whole at his revelation

"You make me feel things I never knew I could" I could hear him breath heavily down the phone "because at the end of the day your the person I want to come home to. Your the person I want to spend all night reading with and all day being the leaders we are. It's you. It's fucking you. You are the only one I want. I cannot even describe it anymore, so why tell me after this after knowing what's between us isn't one sided why you still failed to trust me"

I pursed my lips "My supposed grandma from Luciens side was supposed to come here today" I began

"I had her ambushed and killed, she was apart of what happened to hazel and I knew her death would hurt Lucien and Rowena"

I took a deep breath "when I get to that ball I'm not going to hold myself back, I'm going to show them why I'm so feared"

Nik stayed silent on his side listening, which was exactly what I needed. I just needed someone to listen

"I look at you and feel terrified Nik" I carried on hearing his sharp inhale

"It terrifies me how you started off as an enemy with me wanting to kill you and now I'm terrified at what I wouldn't do for you. I'd let you drag me to hell if it means you'll hold my hand. And if the world thinks it can keep us apart, then it hasn't been paying attention because there is nothing, nothing I wouldn't do to stay by your side"

"Till every star in the galaxy dies idiota" I ended the phone with that and pulled in front of the ball
