The nightmare haunted Hazel all night long, unable to have a good sleep, she waked up sweating and with lack of air, coughing every time.

She spent the morning with Hange trying to take off her mind the fact that she needed to make a choice. After lunch she went to supervise her section at the field.

She gave the instructions of the training at first but Michael, her second in command was in charge of the training leaving her at the beloved bench to look their improvements. Alone, sitting on the back rest and resting her elbows on her knees and supporting her head into her hands, Hazel watched her soldiers, smiling for herself. Her smile broke and sighed, if it weren't for the tiredness and the lack of air in her lungs, she would be instructing everyone like a couple months ago.

"Fuck, I can't. I can't." She covered her face in frustration with her palms before she started to wildly cough. Her throat was already sore making her spill tiny tears, her head ached by this episodes that were more frequent.

"Are you alright, Captain?" She felt a hand over her back trying to ease her. She managed to clear her throat and looked up finding Rose in front of her with a concerned face. Hazel nodded still regaining some air. "I just came to thank you, captain." She looked down to the ground with a sad face. "I... I was in shock, I couldn't do anything. If it weren't for your help, I would be dead too." The tears fell from her face to the ground remembering the death of her friend.

"Rose, I'm sorry for the loss of Roger, I can't imagine how are you feeling. I bet he wouldn't want to see you this sad for him." Hazel stood from the bench and took her hands. "His death won't be in vain if you keep fighting." She combed the hair that had covered Rose's face in order to wipe her tears.

"I'll do it. Thanks again, captain."

Hazel watched Rose go away with the rest of the soldiers and replayed her thanks in her head along with so much other thanks she had received from many people.

"Thanks for the food, Hazel"

"Tea leaves? Thank you, Haze."

"Thank you, Haze."

"Thank you, for everything."

"Thanks heavens you are here, make them shut up."

"Thanks, baby."

"You are the best! I owe you tons."

"Hmm, it's perfect. Thank you, Hazel, but why?"

"Wow, it's beautiful. Thank you, girl."

"Thanks."

"We came quickly to say hi and thank you

"Thanks, baby. Let's go and show the high class who are the shit."

"I just came to thank you, captain. I'll do it. Thanks again."

There was so many, making her think her time has paid off, but that didn't change the fact she wanted to kept helping and fighting. Her body, however, can't.

Rough cramps went over her legs suddenly and she gasped clenching them to ease the pain.

What else could go wrong?

She hardly stood from the bench in order to reach her office and take the meds. She was holding back the tears and kept on a steady face walking slowly to tame the uncomfortable feeling on her limbs. Making a stop on the main building entrance, she supported her body against the wall to take a breath and rub her legs that were shaking. With great effort she unbent from the wall and took two steps before falling on her knees.

"Haze?" His voice approached and kneeled to help her. He watched how bad she was gasping for air and her whole body shaking, she couldn't even turned her face to look at him, she was with her head hanging focused in her breathing and he growing more worried. "Come here, sweetheart."

Levi managed to pick her up the floor with caution and carry her in their quarter's direction fast enough not to cause her more pain. Her breathing was steadying, but the cramps were still on her lower body. She hid her face on the crook of his neck holding him tight, finally letting the tears fell. "It hurts so much."

Her legs were stiff, sending what it seemed to her like electric shocks. She wrapped her legs around his waist while clenching his shirt when the peaks of pain invaded her.

"Haze, I need you to tell me what is it so I can help you." He kept calm in his voice in a way to comfort her and the meantime he was caressing her head letting her freely cry.

"My legs..." she was interrupted by a loudly gasp which she had to suppress in his shoulder clenching now his arms.

Levi was desperate, he hated to see her suffer like this, it broke his heart every time she needed to grip him to handle the pain she was on. "Shhh... I get it." He finally made it, entering the office and right to the room. Her face was still drowned in his neck while crying in desperation. She gasped again and straightened her back feeling the cold water falling over them. "This will help you." He stood below the shower letting the water fall over them, holding her from the waist and feeling she relax with the time.

"Your clothes are soaked." The pain finally vanished but left her exhausted, her head still ached by the cough episodes, her limbs were flaccid making him take all her weight. "I'm sorry." Her tears hadn't stopped falling through his neck.

"That's not important right now. Are you feeling better?" He felt her nodded. "I'm letting you down."

He released her slowly still supporting her weight while she put her feet in the floor, but her legs were weak that she couldn't stand by herself. Crouching slowly, both sat in the floor under the falling water after he turned it warm. He sat behind her and help her stripped her straps and clothes and tossed them aside.

While Hazel felt her whole body weak, the only effort she was doing was to stay sit and focus in her breath and heart rate, feeling his hands stroking her hair with the shampoo and her body with the gentle soap. Once finished, he helped her got up, wrapped her in the towel and lifted her taking her to sit on the edge of the bed.

Hazel waited patiently with her head hanged low feeling depressed, he carefully put her a clean shirt and underwear then dried her hair with the towel and brushed it.

Levi finished her and crouched in front of her to take a look of her face, setting aside the locks of hair and cupping her jaw. He forced a smile hoping she felt better and it worked, she faintly smiled back and placed her forehead against his, closing her eyes followed by a single tear. "I love you."

He left a quick kiss on the tip of her nose. "Me too, Haze. Lay down and rest." She followed his order and cuddled under the cover, after he quickly changed his soaked clothes, he brought her the meds to take them. "I'll be right back, okay? I'll make you some tea." He stood from the bed after stroking her head.

Hazel woken up abruptly by another episode of short breath and nightmares. Looking around she found Levi laid beside her in deep sleep and outside the window, the sky was dark. It had being several hours that she had fallen asleep. She looked to the night stand where it was a cup with cold tea.

Stretching up a bit, she felt her limbs a bit sore and stood from the bed watching how peaceful Levi was. She walked out to her office feeling sleepless and sat over her desk with her feet on the chair and watched through the window.

This day had sucked.
