Zachariel's P.O.V
Hi guys, how are you all? I wrote this long chapter to make it up to you guys. I hope that you all will like it. Enjoy reading, my friends and please leave a comment. They give me the strength to write exciting chapters for you all. Stay safe guys. The drama will continue on Tuesday:-)
Briac kept staring at me during the ride back to the headquarter. I didn't want to ruin my mood, so I ignored him. Things were finally going my way. I wanted to enjoy the moment while I could. We had managed to return just in time. I turned on my computer the moment I reached my desk. I instantly started going through my emails to see if Emma had any requests for me. I got startled when Briac suddenly tapped my shoulder. I turned around to face Briac, then uttered, "I have a feeling that you won't leave me alone until I have listened to whatever you have to say, Briac."
Briac chuckled, then responded to me with, "You know me so well, Zach." Briac leaned against my desk, then asked me, "Did you notice anything when the man appeared to attend to his father, Zach?" I recalled the incident, then answered Briac with, "I was pretty preoccupied at that moment, Briac, so I didn't notice anything." Briac sighed, then stated, "The man who ran towards us is an uncle of mine, Zach. His name is Giovanni Malachi. He's the one who my mother was talking about the other day. The elderly gentleman that collapsed in front of you was his father, Dante Malachi. I had heard from my father that Dante's health had deteriorated due to a billion-dollar project. I didn't know that it was this bad. I was petrified when I saw how much weight Dante had lost. You have probably saved his life by solving his problem, Zach." I smiled at Briac, then said, "I didn't know how dire the situation was, Briac. I'm glad that I could help. There were many loopholes in the contract. You just required insight to find them. I didn't do much, so no one needs to thank me."
Briac nodded, then said, "I thought that my mother was kidding when she said how much you looked like my uncle Giovanni, Zach. I had the privilege of seeing you two side by side today. And I have to tell you, my friend. I got the chills when I realized that you could be his son. Both of you are charming men." I burst out laughing when Briac leaned forward to examine my facial features. I pushed Briac away, then asked him, "If that's true, then why hasn't Alexei noticed it yet?" Briac shook his head, then responded to me with, "Because Alexei never wanted anything to do with our family until now, Zach. He never attended any of my father's parties. So most of our contacts and family members don't know him. He hasn't even set foot in my parent's new house yet. And my parents have been living there for almost six years now. Alexei always demands to have family dinners and brunches at a restaurant." "Things have got to change," I thought to myself when I recollected how much the kids loved their grandparents.
Briac snapped his fingers to draw my attention, then asked me, "Do you understand what I'm saying, Zach? I think that you should look into this matter." I grabbed Briac's hand, then declared, "It's probably just a coincidence, Briac. A lot of people resemble each other in this world. Have you ever heard of a doppelganger? The Malachi family is wealthy. I doubt that they would abandon a helpless baby." Briac sighed, then uttered, "Suit yourself, Zach. I'm not giving up. I'm going to find out if the Malachi family has ever lost a child." Briac took a step back when I stood up in anger. I scowled at Briac, then stated, "Leave it be, Briac. I have already told everyone that I don't want anything to do with my birth parents. I'm in a good place right now. I don't need any unnecessary drama in my life."
Briac ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, then uttered, "I'll respect your wishes, Zach, because I don't want you to suffer a relapse. I care about you too much to cause you pain. I hope that you will change your mind soon, though. The Malachi family consists of compassionate people. If you are truly my uncle's son, then I don't think that he abandoned you on purpose." I plopped down in my chair after Briac left. I hadn't even realized that I had been holding my breath. I didn't care about my connection with the Malachi family. I had moved on and didn't feel like building bonds with some strangers.
