Zachariel's P.O.V

Alexei and I went straight to bed after the triplet's birthday party was over. I was exhausted and couldn't wait to lie down. Alexei and I fell asleep while chatting about the day. I finally got the chance to visit Paul the next day. Anthony's christening was on Sunday, and I still hadn't made plans with Paul. Paul was surprised when he heard that I was dating Alexei. He already knew that I had gotten engaged, but he didn't know to who. Paul used sign language to ask me if I was happy. I smiled at Paul, then responded to him with, "Yes, Paul. I'm satisfied with my life right now." Paul looked in shock at me when I told him that I wanted to invite Alexei and the kids to the ceremony.

He grabbed Alyssa's arm, then uttered, "We have to change our plans, Alyssa. We can't take Mr. Marquis to a diner to celebrate our son's christening." I cupped Paul's face, then said to him, "Calm down, Paul. We can order some food and eat it here. The kids are not picky eaters." Paul had fortunately understood me. He nodded, then yelled, "Let's start cleaning the house, Alyssa. We can't welcome our guests in a messy place like this." I pinched Paul's cheek, then stated, "Your home is clean enough, Paul. Don't bother Alyssa with unnecessary things. She has got her hands full with Anthony. I'll take care of the food and beverages. You should concentrate on the ceremony instead." Paul hugged me tightly, then whispered, "Thank you for always supporting me, Zachariel." I patted Paul's back, then replied to him with, "I have helped many people in my life, Paul. You are the only one who ever showed me compassion. I would do anything to make you and your family happy."

Paul grinned, then used sign language to reply to me with, "I'm so lucky to have a friend like you, Zachariel." I chuckled, then answered Paul with, "Stop praising me, Paul. I don't deserve it." I left Paul's house after making some arrangements with Alyssa and him. I had decided to quit my job at the end of the month. Construction had already started at my new plot. I needed to be around to make sure that everything went well. The kids were playing in the garden when I arrived home. They ran to me to show me the artwork they had made with the help of Ocean and Bertha. I spend some time with the kids, then went to check their wardrobe. I wanted to make sure that they had the right clothes for the christening before calling Alexei.

Alexei was delighted when I told him that we were the only people invited to Anthony's christening. He promised to get home early, then cut off the phone. I had some snacks with the kids after talking to Alexei. The kids giggled when Mia landed on my shoulder. I gave the bird a piece of apple, then concentrated on the kids. I smiled when I heard Jacques say, "Mia has many friends, papa, but she still prefers to be with us. I don't understand why a busy bird like her keeps coming back to us. I mean, doesn't she want to live free?" I stroked Jacques's head, then responded to him with, "Birds have many enemies, Jacques. Larger birds, snakes, and humans love to prey on them. Mia knows that she's safe here and how much you guys love her. She would rather be here than fight for her life in the wild."

Dominique contemplated, then asked me, "Will Mia lay eggs in the future, papa?" I looked at the cheeky bird, then answered Dominique with, "Who knows, Dominique. She may surprise us if she finds the right mate." Genevieve squealed, then yelled, "I hope that she finds her mate soon, papa. I want to watch Mia's chicks hatch." I chuckled while thinking that Alexei would probably not appreciate the smell and the sound of the chicks. I kept myself busy while waiting for Alexei. The kids tackled Alexei to the ground when he came home. They had a lot of stories to share with their father. I asked myself how long our peaceful days would last while looking at Alexei and the kids. It was getting cold, so we took the kids inside.

Alexei and I chatted about my new company while having dinner with the kids. The kids were exhausted. We decided to bathe them before they fell asleep. Alexei received an important call when we were about to put the kids to bed. He stepped out of the room to answer the call. I knew that he had gone to his office when he didn't return. The kids fell asleep as soon as I tucked them in. I gazed at the stars from the children's bedroom window. There was a full moon that night, and the stars were shining brightly in the sky.
