Chapter 35. Possessiveness

Alexei's P.O.V

I was at a meeting in downtown Los Angeles when Chance contacted me. He wanted to discuss some stuff with me. I was appalled when Chance casually mentioned that Tristan had sent Zachariel home for the day. I got annoyed with Chance. He acted like he didn't care about Zachariel's mental health. Chance told me what Tristan had done after notifying me that Gabrielle was there to see me. I asked myself if Chance didn't know who was more important to me. I clenched my fist in anger when he told me that it was due to Andrew Waltz's email. I couldn't wait to find out what Andrew wanted. I asked Chance to forward me the message so I could examine it. I tried to figure out what Zachariel's next move would be. I knew that Zachariel wouldn't go home. He wouldn't want to worry the kids. I lost my mind when I realized that this whole ordeal could harm Zachariel. I needed to find him as soon as possible. I wrapped up the meeting, then ordered Cash to take me back to the headquarter. I was just about to ask Triton to track Zachariel down when I spotted him.

Zachariel was sitting by the window of the local coffee shop. He was hard to miss. Zachariel attracted a lot of attention with his solemn look. He didn't seem to notice that people were staring at him. I got anxious when I saw Zachariel collecting his stuff. I didn't want to miss my chance to meet him. So I instantly ordered Cash to park the car. Cash looked in bewilderment at me when I stepped out of the vehicle. He stuck his head out of the window then shouted, "Why didn't you tell me that you wanted a cup of coffee, Alexei? I would have bought it for you." I ignored Cash and quickly walked towards the coffee shop. My bodyguards were having trouble following me, but I didn't care. My heart melted when I saw how happy Zachariel was to see me. I wanted to hug Zachariel, but there were too many people around.

I was glad that Zachariel was all right. I didn't want to leave my lover alone, but I had some urgent matters to discuss with Gabrielle and her client. And they were already waiting for me at the site. I bid Zachariel farewell, then asked two of my bodyguards to watch him. I was surprised when one of the bodyguards called me to say that Zachariel had decided to visit a hospital first. I groaned while thinking that Zachariel had a mind of his own. That was one of the things that I loved about him. Gabrielle approached me the moment I reached the location. She smiled at me, then uttered, "It's such a shame that you weren't at the headquarter this morning, Alexei. I visited your office to share some good news with you." I smirked at Gabrielle, then asked her, "Has Liam Winter finally decided to sell me this plot, Gabrielle?" Gabrielle chuckled, then answered me with, "Yes, Alexei. He asked me to handle the transaction. He will only visit your office to finalize the deal."

I reached my hand out to Gabrielle, then stated, "Pleasure doing business with you, Gabrielle Cambell." Gabrielle grinned, then responded to me while shaking my hand with, "Likewise, Mr. Marquis." I stuck my hands in my pockets, then gazed at the estate. I had been after this particular plot for years. It was right in the middle of the central business district. It was a great spot to set up a variety of businesses. I was glad that Liam Winter had finally decided to sell. The man probably needed money to retire. I got lost in my thoughts and didn't realize that Gabrielle had been staring at me. Gabrielle chuckled, then uttered, "It seems like you are finally happy, Alexei." I turned around to face Gabrielle, then asked her, "What are you talking about, Gabrielle? As far as I know, I have always been happy."

Gabrielle took a step closer, then uttered while staring into my eyes, "You always had a sullen look on your face when we were together, Alexei. You smile a lot more lately, which makes you even more attractive. I wonder who managed to achieve what I couldn't." I smirked at Gabrielle, then responded to her with, "You are quite attentive, Gabrielle. I would like you to know that I have found the one who completes me. So please don't mention our past again." Gabrielle looked in shock at me. I pushed Gabrielle out of my way, then said before walking to my car, "Call my office when the documents are ready for signing, Gabrielle." Cash smirked at me while opening the door. He chuckled, then stated, "I could hear her heart shatter into pieces from here, Alexei." I sighed, then replied to Cash with, "I couldn't help it, Cash. I don't want her to ruin my relationship with Zachariel." Cash looked back at Gabrielle, then uttered, "Poor girl, I hope that she will find someone who will love her unconditionally soon."
