Alexei's P.O.V

I wondered why Zachariel had helped Alfred Fredericks develop his company. I had never heard about the guy before. "He must have some special skills," I thought to myself while looking at Alfred. Alfred seemed pretty ordinary to me. Zachariel smirked at Alfred, then uttered, "Take a seat, my friend." Alfred hesitated a bit, then walked towards his desk. He looked in shock in my direction when he heard Zachariel say, "The others will be arriving soon, Alexei." Alfred bumped against a chair when he recognized me. He almost fell over. Zachariel laughed, then stated, "Be careful, Alfred. It would be a waste if you got hurt now. I have a lot of things to discuss with you. And besides, Alexei is here for me and not you. I'm sure that you have already heard from Becky that Alexei is my fiancé. I'm very unstable. He is here to make sure that I don't lose my mind and kill someone."

Alfred quickly took a seat, then uttered, "I didn't mean to hurt you, Zach. I was trying to pay you back for everything that you have ever done for me. I wasn't going to mention any names in my article. I didn't know what Becky was after, so I decided to play it safe. You can see it for yourself if you don't believe me." Alfred stood up, then grabbed a file from his safe. He handed the file to Zachariel, then said, "Read it carefully, Zach." Zachariel smiled after analyzing the article. He put the file down, then said, "That's quite a story, Alfred. You made it look like a plant has more emotions than me. How can you write that I have never cried before in my life? I can still remember how I cried when Xena left." I couldn't help but laugh when I saw Alfred's reaction.

The door suddenly burst open. Alfred looked in fear at me when a young girl walked into his office. The girl wiped her forehead, then uttered, "Thank God that you are okay, Alfred. I received a message stating that you were dying." The girl's eyes widened in surprise when she recognized Zachariel. She squealed, "Zach!" while stomping her feet. Three more people walked into the office. All of them looked in shock at Zachariel. Zachariel smiled at them, then uttered, "Hello, my pretties."

The man wearing a police uniform groaned, then said, "You promised not to call us that anymore, Zach." Zachariel laughed while getting up. He walked over to me then grabbed my hand. He dragged me towards the people, then said, "I would like you to meet the people who helped me cope with my loneliness when I was in the orphanage, Alexei. Paul, Becky, and these five people always kept me entertained. They made me feel like I mattered. Becky, unfortunately, chose another path. She did not only try to influence Alfred but also the others. I'm glad that my true friends didn't disappoint me." The cop stepped forward, then greeted me with, "Good morning, Mr. Marquis. It's an honor to meet you. I'm Charles Griffin. I work at the Los Angeles police department." The woman wearing a childcare uniform smiled at me, then stated, "Hello, sir. My name is Olivia Harper. I own a few childcare centers in L.A. I had never thought that I would meet you personally one day."

The young girl threw herself at me, then yelled, "Hi, Mr. Marquis. I'm Kaylee Rose, and I'm seventeen years old. I go to school near here. I missed Zach so much. Thank you for bringing him back to us." The woman who hadn't introduced herself to me yet grabbed Kaylee's arm then pulled her off me. She glared at the girl, then said, "Mind your manners, Kaylee. Mr. Marquis is an influential person. You can't hug him like he's your brother." I chuckled, then said to the woman, "Let me guess, you are a teacher, right?" The woman smiled, then answered me with, "Yes, sir. I work at the John Adams middle school. I'm Cora Peyton. Zach helped me become who I am today." Zachariel patted Cora's back, then uttered, "Join me at the conference table, everyone."

Everyone followed, Zachariel to the conference table. Zachariel waited till everyone had settled down, then declared, "I have a reason for gathering you all here today." Charles looked in bewilderment at Zachariel, then asked him, "Isn't it because Alfred tried to publish an article about you, Zach? I tried to stop him, but he's too stubborn to listen to anyone." Zachariel chuckled, then responded to Charles with, "Yeah, but I wanted to discuss some other matters with you guys as well. Kaylee was already six years old when she joined the orphanage. She doesn't know much about what happened there. You guys managed to become what you always wanted, but most of the other kids didn't." Zachariel ran his fingers through his hair when he heard Cora say, "Isn't it all because of you, Zach? I remember the time when I couldn't pay my student loans. I lost a lot of weight and fell unconscious while working at a cafe. I thought that I was dreaming when I saw you running towards me to help me. Everything became clear to me when I saw you sitting behind Alfred's desk. I now know that you were the one who paid back the money that I owed. You have helped not only me but all of us achieve what we wanted in life. Whenever we got together, we talked about the mysterious person who had helped us with our needs. I'm glad that you never forgot about us, Zach."
