Chapter 33. Origin Part 2

Zachariel's P.O.V

I fell asleep in the car. I got startled when Alexei caressed my cheek to wake me up. Alexei smiled at me, then said, "We are home, Zachariel." I looked in a daze at the mansion. I sighed while thinking, "How rude of me to move in without asking the owner's permission." I quickly composed myself when I noticed that I had been sleeping on Alexei's shoulder. Alexei lifted my chin, then uttered, "Hey, it's alright. I'm yours, remember?" I nodded at Alexei, then placed a kiss on his cheek. I carefully got out of the car, then stretched my muscles. Alexei threw his arm around me, then stated, "It's cold, Zachariel. Let's go inside." I gazed at the sky, then responded to Alexei with, "You are right, Alexei. It's pretty chilly outside."

Charlotte ran to me when I opened the door. She grabbed my jacket and my bag, then said, "Welcome home, Zach. Ocean has already heated your meal. You look haggard. Go wash up and eat. Your bath will be ready by the time you have finished eating." I pulled Charlotte into my arms, then uttered, "Thank you so much for caring about me, Charlotte. I thought that I would have never gotten a chance to experience a mother's love." Charlotte hugged me tightly, then declared, "I see you as my son, Zach. No one can ever change that. I want you to be well. So go wash up and eat before you collapse." I chuckled, then responded to Charlotte with, "If that ever happens, then I'm sure that Alexei will take care of me."

I grinned when I heard Alexei say, "Why don't I start taking care of you now, Zachariel? I can feed you if you like." I kissed Alexei softly, then yelled while running towards the bathroom, "Yes, I would love that, Alexei. I'll be right back!" Alexei was sitting at the dinner table when I returned. He smiled, then uttered while grabbing the cutlery, "I hope that you won't be disappointed with my services, Zachariel. The kids are the only people I've ever fed. It doesn't take much to make them happy." I grabbed Alexei's face, then kissed him intensely. Alexei looked in astonishment at me. I stared into Alexei's eyes, then uttered, "I'm already over the moon with joy because of your kind gesture, Alexei. I won't even care if you feed me air or ruin my clothes."

Alexei smirked at me, then stated, "I love this side of you, Zachariel. It's like all of your defenses are down. It makes me want to take advantage of you." I burst out laughing, then replied to Alexei with, "I've changed a lot since we started dating, Alexei. You have taught me how to love myself. I'm now sure that no one can hurt me." Alexei placed a kiss on my forehead, then said while feeding me, "I'm glad that you have regained your confidence, Zachariel. You deserve to be happy, but don't forget that I'm here for you too. I promise to be reachable to you from now on. Charlotte calls James if she has trouble reaching me. It never crossed my mind that you can't call him when you need me. I had a lot of meetings today. I cursed myself when I saw how many times you had tried to call me. I asked Triton to keep an eye on the situation after reading your text. Triton knew where you had parked your car. So it was easy for me to find you."

I took a sip out of my drink, then said, "I was planning to take a nap before driving home, Alexei. I would be home by midnight then, though. That's why I'm glad that you came to pick me up. It saved me a lot of trouble." Alexei kissed me, then uttered, "I would do anything to get you home safely, Zachariel." I chuckled when I heard Alexei say, "Hmm, you taste good, Zachariel." I grabbed a fork, then fed Alexei a piece of my salmon. Alexei closed his eyes to savor the taste. I chuckled, then uttered while dishing out food for Alexei, "Come, let's eat together. It's too much food for one person anyway." Alexei and I ate while chatting about our day.

I then remembered Dante Malachi. I wiped my mouth after eating, then asked Alexei, "Did you know that Dante got admitted to the hospital, Alexei?" Alexei sighed, then answered me with, "Yes, my father told me about it. The receptionist of the lobby called an ambulance when Dante remained unresponsive. The paramedics transported Dante to a hospital after treating him. Dante's blood results showed that he had developed anemia. It would have never come to light if Dante hadn't collapsed that day. It seems like he had been hiding many things regarding his health from his family. Dante was lucky that you were there to break his fall. Who knows what would have happened if he had fallen on the solid floor."
