Alexei's P.O.V

It was almost two AM. So I decided to wait to confront Oliver Nolan about his stalking tendencies. It seemed like this was not the first time that he had pursued Zachariel. Dante was still busy insulting me. I wondered what I had done to make him this angry. I admired the man. It was already late, and he still had the energy to spout nonsense. My father tried to stop Dante, but the man wouldn't listen to him. Cash yawned, then asked me, "Can I go take a nap in the car, Alexei?" I nodded, then answered Cash with, "Yes, go. I'll call you when our discussion is over." Cash was just about to walk out of the house when Leonardo called out to him. Leonardo handed Cash a thermos bottle full of hot coffee, then said, "Here is something to keep yourself hydrated, Cash." Cash looked in bewilderment at the thermos bottle. He probably expected Leonardo to know that bodyguards weren't allowed to accept food or drinks from people while they were working. It was the easiest way to eliminate them. People would go to any length to get rid of their rivals.

Cash smiled at Leonardo, then said, "It's very kind of you to offer me coffee, sir, but I can't accept it. Mr. Marquis's car has everything. I'll make myself a steaming hot cup of joe after sleeping for a bit." Leonardo frowned when Cash casually walked out of the house. I shook my head, then uttered, "It's a rule that their company established, Leonardo. He needs to follow it if he wants to keep his job." Dante glared at me when I walked into the living room. He clenched his fists, then shouted, "Get out of my house, Alexei Marquis. There is nothing for you here!" Everyone looked in shock at the old geezer. I scowled at Dante, then said, "You better shut up before I lose my temper, Dante Malachi. I have been listening to you insulting me for a while now. I could have made you stop ages ago, but I respect you. I don't know what I have done to deserve this kind of treatment from you." Dante huffed, then screamed, "Have you forgotten that you prevented Patrizio from contacting us, Alexei?" I scowled at Dante, then stated, "I have never stopped Zachariel from doing anything, Dante. It's two AM, and my head is a mess. You better stop blaming me for things that I didn't do before you regret it."

My father put his hand on Dante's shoulder, then said, "Don't provoke Alexei, Dante. Sit down and listen to what he has to say." Dante calmed down when he heard Caterina sob. He took a seat on the sofa, then stated, "This better be good, Alexandre." I shook my head, then motion everyone to sit down. Amelia handed me a cup of coffee, then uttered, "I can see that you're tired, Alexei. Please, have some coffee to boost your energy." I thanked Amelia for the drink, then asked Giovanni, "How much do you know about Zachariel, Giovanni?" Giovanni sighed, then answered me with, "The only thing that we know about him is that he grew up in an orphanage, Alexei. There are no records of him after he turned eighteen. My men are still looking for people who can shed some light on Patrizio's past."

I smiled while thinking about Zachariel. It looked like he had taken measures after Andrew contacted him. I smirked at Giovanni, then uttered, "Stop your men from digging into Zachariel's past, Giovanni. They won't find anything no matter how hard they try." Leonardo frowned, then asked me, "What do you mean, Alexei?" I sighed then responded to Leonardo with, "Zachariel destroyed the data about his existence to prevent people from finding him. That's probably the reason why your father's people couldn't detect him." Dante gasped, then asked me, "Why did Patrizio go into hiding, Alexei?" I contemplated the consequences of telling Dante the truth. Zachariel wouldn't be happy if he found out that I had told his family about Andrew Waltz. I decided to take a gamble. I sighed then answered Dante with, "He did it to protect himself and his former lover, Dante. Zachariel's goal changed after Andrew Waltz, his lover of ten years, betrayed him."

Giovanni looked questioningly at me, then asked me, "Are you talking about the owner of the Arrakasta company, Alexei?" I frowned, then answered Giovanni with, "Andrew Waltz is not the owner of the Arrakasta company, Giovanni. Zachariel created that company with his blood, sweat, and tears. Andrew took advantage of Zachariel. He waited for the right opportunity and took everything from Zachariel. Andrew Waltz stole the company and about one hundred million dollars from Zachariel." Dante rubbed his face in frustration, then asked me, "How didn't Patrizio notice what that bastard was scheming, Alexei?" I sighed, then replied to Dante with, "Zachariel was head over heels in love with Andrew at that time. He worked day and night to fulfill Andrew's needs. He never learned how to live for himself. Do you know who holds the record of winning the most awards in marketing competitions, Dante?" Dante shook his head. I smiled, then uttered, "It's Zachariel, Dante. He made millions by winning awards in all the categories." Dante chuckled, then stated, "I knew that Patrizio had inherited my knack for business."
