Zachariel's P.O.V
Alexei, fortunately, recognized what I was going through when Giovanni Malachi arrived. I started feeling horrible the moment I laid eyes on my biological father. I felt like a jerk for treating the Malachi family like my adversaries. I knew what they had gone through, but I wasn't ready to face them yet. I had realized that I was the one to blame for them not finding me. I had made my biological family's life a living hell by hiding my whereabouts. I would have done something about this matter if I knew that I was hurting people. I was disappointed with myself and didn't know what to do. I tried to stay as far away as possible from the Malachi family, but they always turned up wherever I was. The Malachi's were influential people, so It was understandable.
I was shocked by how much I relied on Alexei. I had never been this dependent before. I was worried about my future with Alexei. I always asked myself what I would do if he ever got tired of my mood swings. We ate in peace after Giovanni left. My mind was a mess, but I didn't let it show. I tried to stop the negative thoughts from popping into my mind but to no avail. I pulled myself together when Jacques started sobbing. He was tired and wanted to sleep. We bid everyone farewell then went home.
We got busy with the kids after reaching the mansion. I went to my room to relax after the kids had fallen asleep. I was surprised when I saw that my belongings were missing. Alexei hugged me from behind, then said, "I asked the maids to move your stuff to my room, Zachariel. We sleep in the same bed, so it's futile to have separate rooms." Alexei was right. We didn't need separate rooms. The kids already knew that we were together. Alexei grabbed my hand, then led me to his room. I chuckled when I saw that Alexei had remodeled his room. The room looked more like a luxurious apartment now. Alexei had done his best to accommodate me, and I appreciated it. Alexei grabbed my face when he saw me looking in awe at the expensive furniture. He kissed me intensely, then asked me, "Do you like what I did with the room, Zachariel?" I kissed Alexei passionately back, then answered him with, "Yes, Alexei. You did a great job." I couldn't help but laugh when Alexei shouted while hugging me, "Yes! Praise me more, Zachariel!"
Charlotte knocked on our door suddenly, then uttered, "I have something urgent to discuss with you, sir." Alexei groaned while putting his head on my shoulder. He hugged me tightly, then responded to Charlotte with, "Go wait in my office, Charlotte. I'll be there in a minute." Charlotte replied to Alexei with, "As you wish, sir," then walked away. I stroked Alexei's back, then said, "You should go see what Charlotte wants, Alexei. It's getting late. She probably wants to go to bed too." Alexei placed a kiss on my neck, then uttered, "You had a tiring day, Zachariel. Take a shower and go to bed. We'll talk in the morning." I kissed Alexei deeply, then responded to him with, "Good night, Alexei."
I took a shower after Alexei left, then went straight to bed. I quickly turned off my alarm when it started ringing at five AM. I groaned when I saw that Alexei was clinging onto me. I carefully got out of bed, then took a quick shower. I put on my gym clothes, then went to check on the kids. Bertha had fallen asleep on Dominique's sofa. I didn't want to disturb her, so I didn't enter the room. Charlotte's lights were on when I passed by her office. I knocked on her door, then shouted, "Good morning, Charlotte!" I chuckled when I heard something drop in Charlotte's office. Charlotte quickly opened the door, then asked me, "Why are you up so early, Zach? Are you going somewhere?" I gazed at Charlotte's coffee-stained blouse, then said, "I'm sorry for startling you, Charlotte." Charlotte chuckled, then responded to me with, "It's alright, Zach. It's not your fault. I didn't get a wink of sleep last night. I kind of dozed off while drinking coffee."
I frowned at Charlotte, then asked her, "What is troubling you, Charlotte?" Charlotte sighed, then motioned me to come in. Charlotte closed the door behind me, then stated, "I've just realized that you are the only person who can help me solve this problem, Zach." I looked in bewilderment at Charlotte. Charlotte grabbed my hand, then said, "The situation is not as dire as you think, Zach." I took a seat by Charlotte's desk, then said, "Go on, Charlotte, tell me what's bothering you. I'll try to help you as much as I can." Charlotte leaned against her desk, then uttered, "Our neighbors are moving to Japan, Zach. They can't take their scarlet macaw Mia with them due to some rules and regulations. The bird is also free-flighted. Our neighbors don't want to punish the bird by caging her. Evelyn and Levi Thompson came by yesterday to ask if we could adopt the bird. The bird knows this area well and spends most of her time here. I know that it's impossible to handle such a large bird, but the kids love her. They wait every day by the window to catch a glimpse of her. I talked to Alexei last night about this. He told me that he doesn't want anything to do with the bird. I wish that I could somehow keep her."
