Ch. 19 Bonding over pasts

After Dot had just got out of her apartment when she changed out of her work clothes to her long-sleeved black shirt that was underneath her black Ramones t-shirt, along with blue jeans, and her special black shoes, she saw that Alister was already there and he appeared to be awed by how hot she looked in her outfit, but then he shook his head when he realized he was getting mushy.

"Hey, sorry it took me long, Alister. But you know, I had to get my cigarettes so I could smoke." Dot smiled while she held up her pack of cigarettes and winked.

Alister was shocked after discovering that Dot was actually a smoker, "You smoke?"

"Yeah, and actually, it helps me relax." Dot replied coolly, just before she took a cigarette from the box and began lighting up the cigarette. But before she could smoke, she suddenly felt her cigarette being snatched away. Dot's eyes widened and she looked up to see that Alister had just taken her cigarette from her.

"What are you doing?" She demanded.

"You shouldn't smoke." Alister replied firmly.

"And why not?"

"Because it's bad and can kill your lungs." Alister answered simply, just before he took the pack of cigarettes away from Dot's hand and began tossing them in the trash.

"Really? I never knew that." Dot said as she was surprised by what Alister just told her.

"Well, now you do." Alister smirked, just before he used his thumb to flick the cigarette that he took from Dot away.

Dot was blushing and felt her heart flutter at how sexy Alister looked the way he flicked her cigarette away, but then she realized she was getting mushy so in order to shake off that feeling, she cleared her throat and said, "Well, in case you're wondering... I never did used to smoke."

"Really?" Alister asked while blinking.

"Yeah. I mean, after my parents disowned me, I just thought that this meant I could do what I wanted." Dot shrugged.

"You're such a rebel." Alister said, which got Dot surprised at what he just called her and she asked "What?"

"You must have done something that made your parents decide that you weren't their daughter anymore. What was it that you did?"

Dot sighed and explained, "My parents wanted me to be like them, which was them being accountants but I never wanted to because I had my eye on something else and that was performing. No matter how much they wanted me to be just like them, I just rebelled which set both of my parents off and they decided I wasn't their daughter anymore."

Alister winced after hearing Dot tell him that, then Dot sighed as she continued on, "Which sucks because parents should be there to support their children, and mine didn't. They never believed in me and just wanted me to do what I didn't want to do."

Alister felt his heart wrench at the rest of Dot's words, but then he thought that at least she wasn't in his situation where he was the only person left after he lost his mother and his little brother due to the war caused by Gozaburo Kaiba and that was way worse than having parents who didn't support Dot.

"Well, at least you're not me." Alister spoke, which got Dot confused and she turned to him and asked "What do you mean?"

"I mean, I lost my little brother. I know I already told you that but I haven't been fully detailed about it. It was because of that war caused by Gozaburo Kaiba, and because of that, I have really strong hate for KaibaCorp. and anyone involved in that damn company!" Alister replied almost angrily, which got Dot to gasp in shock because she never thought that KaibaCorp. would have been involved in some kind of war.

Alister then sighed as he took out the toy of Dyna Dude that belonged to his baby brother to show Dot, and it appeared to be burnt because it almost got blown up along with his little brother.

"What is that?" Dot asked as she looked at the toy curiously.

"This was Mikey's favorite toy, and it's the only part of him I have left." Alister answered as he handed Dot the toy so he could let her take a look at it, and Dot took it out of his hand while she looked at the toy with so much heartbreak and sympathy for Alister.

"Oh my god." She whispered softly, just before she looked up to face Alister while looking at him sadly and said "I'm really sorry to hear that. It must really suck losing someone you love."

"Thanks, Dot. It really does." Alister sighed while he looked down sadly, and Dot felt her heart hurting even more as she saw how sad he was. Then she felt like she wanted to comfort him, so she took his hand in hers which got Alister a bit startled at first when he felt that touch, but then he relaxed as he felt his heart melting. For the first time in his life, he was gaining some compassion from somebody after such a long time ever since he lost his mother and his little brother Mikey.

Then without thinking, Alister suddenly pulled Dot into his arms. Dot gasped in shock and her cheeks were blushing a really bright red because she was just being held by a guy that she had just met but was also possibly starting to grow feelings for!

"Thanks, Dot, for being compassionate. To tell you the truth, I never got any ever since I lost Mikey at the war, and I appreciate you being the first person to give it me. Thank you." He told her softly, and his words made Dot's heart melt as she didn't know what to say. But she did hug Alister right back while she closed her eyes and breathed in his scent and warmth, and Dot had to admit that this really felt so good for her. For 2 years she never received this much love, and now she finally had it.

Soon Alister pulled back because he realized that he needed to head back to Paradius and he knew that everyone back home was waiting for him.

"I think I better go." He said softly as he felt like he didn't want to leave Dot but he knew that he had no choice to. All of a sudden, he saw a paper slipping out of Dot's pocket, which got him curious and he picked it up to see what it was... then he exchanged a confused look when he saw something in it.

"Who's 'Dorothy'?" He asked, which got Dot's eyes to widen and her whole face was red as she looked really embarrassed

"Dorothy is me! My real name is Dorothy, but I fucking hate it!" She answered while snatching the paper that was a contract out of Alister's hand.

"Makes me sound flimsy as hell." She finished while sighing in exasperation that Alister found out her real name.

"I don't think so." Alister replied firmly, which got Dot startled at what he said.

"It's actually pretty, and it suits you." He told her, which got Dot to blush softly as she stared at him not really knowing what to say. Then she suddenly felt Alister pecking her cheek with his lips, and it made her blush even more just as well as her heart pounded so fast she felt like she couldn't even calm it down.

"See you." Alister grinned, just before he turned around to leave.

"Uh, yeah... see you." Dot replied back, to which Alister turned around and sent her a wink before he proceeded to head towards his motorcycle. Then after he went in his bike and put his helmet on, he started the engine and began riding it away.

Dot watched him leave as she looked dazed for a few moments, then she began smiling like an idiot as she began turning around and heading back to her apartment.

She knew she only just met Alister, but she felt like she was instantly falling in love with him.
