The next day in the morning, Sora was waiting for Yami to come over to the Kaiba Manor, but it appeared that he was late and it made Sora really worried. She then got her telephone so that she could call Yami, and she hoped that he would give her an explanation on why he was late. She dialed the number to Yugi's grandfather's game shop, and she waited for either Yugi or Solomon to answer the phone.

Back in the game shop, Solomon was actually the first person to answer the phone so he brought it to his ear and said, "Hello, this is the Muto's."

"Good morning, Mr. Muto. Is Yugi there?" Sora asked through the phone, which got Solomon to beam up because he really did like Sora.

"Oh, hey, Sora. My grandson is here, just a second." He replied with a chuckle, just before he called to Yugi "Yugi, you have a phone call!"

"Ok!" Yugi who was in his room responded back, and he knew that Sora was calling so he had Yami take over. After Yami appeared, he was a bit nervous because he was a little worried that Sora was mad at him that he didn't show up at the Kaiba Manor for them to hang out. Soon Yami picked up the phone and he quickly said "Hello?"

Back in the Kaiba Manor, Sora sighed in relief when she heard Yami's voice, then she asked him almost sternly, "It's 9:30, Yami. Where are you?"

"Sorry, I was just about to call. I, um... can't see you today." Yami replied hesitantly, which got Sora shocked and she asked "Why not?"

"It's Yugi's mother... she's very sick." Yami answered, and he sounded like he was lying.

"But... Seto said that Yugi's mom was okay and that it was a false alarm." Sora replied in confusion, and on the other line, Yami cringed and he mouthed 'Oh shit!' to himself because he knew that he was gonna be in trouble for lying to Sora like that.

But then he tried to think of a lie so he could cover that up, "Yeah! That's... what we thought it was at first, but then... she took a real turn for the worst."

"Oh..." Sora said, as she sounded like she didn't believe Yami.

"Yeah. We think her cold... is getting worse."

What Yami said got Solomon shocked and concerned that he exclaimed, "What?!"

Yami was startled when he heard Solomon listening to his and Sora's conversation, then he shouted out to him, "GRANDPA, GET OFF THE PHONE! HOW MANY TIMES?!"

"Did Mom tell you she was sick?!" Solomon asked with so much concern in his voice.

"No, Grandpa, just GET. OFF. THE. PHONE!" Yami shouted clearly, and Solomon sighed in confusion while he hung up the phone like Yami told him to.

After that, Yami sighed and took a deep breath for a few moments until he finally calmed down and brought the phone back to his ear, "Sorry about that, Sora."

"Was that Grandpa?" Sora asked as she sounded suspicious.

"Yeah! He's so upset he's making no sense, because we have to take Yugi's mother to the hospital." Yami lied again while he was chuckling nervously.

"You can come over after?" Sora asked confusedly.

"No!" Yami quickly answered, but then he realized what he said so he tried clarifying what he meant by making up another lie.

"I mean, uh... I just think... I need to be alone today. With my... feelings?"

On the other line, Sora knew that Yami was probably lying, "Are you lying to me?"
