I can't help feeling especially nervous as we make it across town. Luckily there is no one out this late, to our relief. If there was, I don't even know what we'd say. Being out this late is very suspicious, especially dressed in dark clothes & with bags. They'd wonder what we are doing.
I can't help feeling massively relieved as we reach our secret hill, almost there. I still get ready to draw my claws, in case someone does come or something, but luckily, nothing eventful happens as we cross the fields, careful to walk backwards in case someone tries to track us later with our footprints.
The only real challenge comes at the gate, which we have to hoist ourselves up. Nora goes first, with me giving her a leg up. She drops down clumsily on the other side, but seems ok, luckily. I have a bit more of a difficult time, having to stick my feet in the narrow holes between the chainlinks, using my hands on the metal to draw myself up, the metal jangling noisier than I'd like. I sit for a moment on the threshold before jumping to the other side, landing gracefully, knees bent.
"We're almost there!" I whisper excitedly, a gigantic grin on my face. Nora smiles at me & takes my hand as we run into the forest, unsure of what awaits us there, but happy to leave our old lives behind, even if it means leaving Amery there too.
Hope you guys liked this chapter :). Sorry it was so short, but I got another POV change coming up, so bear w me. Welp, that's all I had to say so... Bye! :D
