Over the next 2 weeks, me & Helios fall into a kind of a rhythm. Some days he comes in on his skateboard & leaves that way too, others his mom drops him off, depending on what's going on & how he's feeling. We see each other in the library in the mornings & we all hang out, Helios seeming more a part of the group with each day. On days he takes his skateboard, I write him notes before leaving. On other days we ride to our houses in his mom's car. I find myself slowly starting to get to know him more & more. His home life. His struggles. His insecurities. His passions. & I do the same.
I find myself wanting to spend more & more time with him, despite our hectic schedules & homework. Excitedly awaiting the Saturday I'll spend with him. Til it finally comes.
I wake up surprisingly early for a weekend, & go down for breakfast. My mom & grandparents seem to notice my excited energy, giving me questioning eyebrows over the table, though they don't ask me about it.
I wear a black tank top & matching basketball shorts, contacts, sneakers & my hair up in a ponytail. When we finally arrive, I wait nervously by the door til he answers & my mom drives away.
I smile shyly, waving slightly at him, already feeling myself blush. "Hi..."
He grins, stepping back from the doorway into the hall, 1 hand rubbing his neck. "Hey... You ready for me to teach you to skateboard?"
I grin brightly, stepping inside. "Yeah! I mean... I'm probably gonna fail or something... But it'll be fun."
He chuckles, eyes looking into mine slowly. "It's ok, don't worry about failing, it just takes practice..."
I smile shyly. "O-ok..." I just then notice his parents sitting there in the living room with his sister (after Helios had blocked my view) & I wave politely. "Hi!" His mom smiles sweetly & his sister nods in acknowledgement. His step-dad smiles slowly, a bit reluctant, but kind nonetheless.
"Hello. You must be Robin..." He extends his hand & I shake it nervously, smiling widely.
"Y-yes, sir..."
Helios smirks & leads us out the door to the backyard, waving goodbye as we close the door. He turns to me, the same smirk on his face, 1 eyebrow raised.
"What?" I blink at him, feeling my face heat.
"You don't need to call my step-dad 'sir'. He's a pretty chill dude..."
I pout, covering my reddening face. "Well, sorry for wanting to make a good impression... Meeting the parents is always an important step & I get easily nervous..."
He pauses a moment. "You say that as if we're dating or something..."
I drop my hands, looking at the ground for a moment awkwardly. "Haha, yeah..." We stay silent for a moment before I turn to look at the stuff he's got laid out on the grass. "Oh, is this all the stuff we'll need?"
He nods slowly, walking over to me. "Yup-" He hands me a helmet & some knee & elbow pads, giving me a moment to put them all on. I struggle a little with the pads, & he helps me with those, fingers briefly brushing my skin as he fixes them, giving me goosebumps.
I smile shyly, adjusting the helmet slightly, giving him a goofy grin. "How do I look?"
Aw man, they crushing bad, lol :D
