Chapter 13- Cal

I keep my eyes on her as she explains what we'll have to do, filling my stomach with fear & my heart with determination.

"You'll never... be able to express your love for each other in this small town... They would never accept you guys... They're rather close minded &... likely they would try to split you guys up, or even... if they find out you're a Draconi... they might attack you... Mob mentality, you know..."

I nod soberly, frowning heavily. "Yeah... that's terrifying... So... what would you suggest we do then?"

She looks off into the distance, pausing for a moment. "I... well... you'd have to go someplace you would be accepted..."

I nod slowly. "Another town then?"

She frowns, making a noncommittal noise in her throat. "Mmm... are you really willing to take that kinda chance? Going to another town hoping that they'll accept you guys, but unsure if they actually will? Plus, Nora's parents would probably be able to easily track her down & bring her back..."

I nod, frowning. "Yeah, I guess you're right... What should we do then?"

She looks off into the distance, hand on chin. "I would suggest... going somewhere where they wouldn't want to find you, or couldn't... Somewhere they would accept you..."

I tilt my head to the side. "&... where would that be?"

She frowns slightly. "Well... You might not like the answer..."

I nod slowly. "True, but... we gotta do whatever we can to be together, right? Even if that means leaving everything behind..."

She nods understandingly. "True... Well... the places I know for sure that accept LGBT people... & Draconi... & interspecies relationships..."

"-Are pretty limited?"

She shakes her head slightly. "No, actually... It's just... the 1's near you are pretty limited... I mean, you're mostly surrounded by other human towns, which... Even if they might accept LGBT people... they for sure wouldn't accept Draconi people... or at least have some kind of bias or prejudice... & Nora's parents could easily find you guys..."

I nod slowly. "So... where then? Somewhere where there are a high number of other mythical species?"

She nods. "Yep... & given it'd be best if it was close to you... It's either the ocean or the forest for you guys..."
