This 1st story is about a Dragon girl & human girl falling in love, despite the cultural differences & the obstacles standing in their way. Hope you enjoy :) <3

For as long as I could remember, I've been living at the Behrends' house. Nestled at the center of Farmworth, the wide wooded cabin has always had an atmosphere of comfort & been welcoming to me. You would never guess, besides the fact that it is at the center of town & the biggest house, it was... the house of the Chieftain. At least, by looking at the house alone...

I had always felt welcomed there... but maybe that was because of a few specific people living there... not my host "parents"...

There was the kind Amery, & his beautiful sister Eleonora, "Nora" for short &... I've been in love with her for as long as I can remember...

But maybe love isn't the right word... I didn't know at first... Love is such a complicated thing &... to try to grasp the concept at such a young age... would have been difficult... Especially in an environment where people tell you that the only romantic love out there is between... a man & a woman...

But, anyways, let me back up a little bit...

My life began... somewhere I don't know... My host mother, Chieftess Della, said that there was a note & I was left at the doorstep &... that was it... that was all there was to it...

No address to send me back to... nothing specific... Just my first name, Calida... &... a plea to keep me safe... For my parents, wherever they were... If they were even still alive...

So Chieftain Anton did what one would expect... Called a meeting of the town hall to see who would take the child... me... but... no one wanted me... they had enough mouths to feed...

Not wanting me to starve to death, & fearing my birth parents eventual reaction & what would become of me, the Chieftain took me in himself. Helped raise me with his wife & child my own age...

It wasn't til much later, when I was 5, that they realized my true identity. They had thought... that I was simply a human child... I had to be, they thought at 1st... until 1 day... I didn't want to eat my vegetables & I got into a particularly big tantrum, exposing... my claws... Or should I say flaws...

They discovered soon after, after some poking & prodding from the town doctor, that I wasn't... normal... I was a Draconi...

According to town legend, I was... a nuisance... they said that... Draconi were... beasts disguised as humans that could turn into dragons... that we should be feared & kept under control... It was just in our nature to behave this way & we needed constant supervision & discipline to prevent any kind of... harm we might cause others... At least... that's what my host "parents" said... Or should I say "employers"?

They... would have kicked me out of town right there... if Amery hadn't started crying & Nora hadn't thrown a tantrum right then in the middle of the market when she found out... The Chieftain didn't want anyone... finding out they kicked out a little kid...

So they kept me... as their house servant (yay)...

I was the only Draconi in the whole town, so obviously it was hard for me to cope with my identity growing up... both mentally & culturally... I mean... how are you supposed to know anything about yourself or where you come from if you're the only of your kind & have never even met your parents?

I did have Amery & Nora though... to support me... they were always a consolation, through thick & thin... Never leaving me, always there... It's no wonder I fell in love with Nora, I mean... she's amazing...

Hope you liked this chapter :'D. I'm thinking for the world, it's like... human languages/cultures are still around obviously, but they get along better than with other species... Like, skin color matters less, & more like, are you an elf/dragon/etc? The different groups like that wouldn't get along. So while Calida is afro-Latina, it is only 1 aspect of her identity, & can have very limited impact unfortunately because she never knew her birth parents, so she is lacking her cultura. 1 of the main focuses to her identity is her being a dragon. A lot of humans discriminate against her because of that, because they're ignorant/have prejudices/etc. Much in the same way our societies do between various groups, just in a magical sense for this world, if that makes sense :'D

Tell me what you guys think about this concept idea or whatever... I'm always open to constructive criticism...

Welp, I'll see y'all later... Bye! :'D
