TW: some dirty jokes, lol

I can't help thinking about what Helios said for the next 2 weeks. We don't get paired for culinary projects anymore, we have new random groups again &... I really want to talk to him... about what he said... but at the same time... what would I say? I still don't know...

I start to notice him around the school, in places I hadn't before. Was he always in my English class? Did we always have the same lunch? I find myself staring at him all too often, wishing I had the courage to approach him & say something... though I didn't know what that something was... It wasn't until 1 afternoon that I finally worked up the courage to talk to him again.

We'd just finished band practice & everyone else was putting away their stuff. It didn't take me long to put away mine, being a flute, but as the chair leader of my section, I had to make sure that all our folders were put away, & that took a hot minute. I enjoyed the rhythmic noise of the folders sliding into their slots, & it wasn't long before everyone else left. Which is when I heard it.

The sound of a piano. Faint at first. A few scales, sounded like. Then some pieces. Something with speed, crescendo. A little... legato piece, with that, what was it... pedal... Something staccato... & a march...

It seemed 10 minutes had passed, & I had probably missed my bus, which sucked but... I had to see who that player was... I walked over to the piano room, the door slightly ajar & saw... Helios.

I felt my face flush & I almost stepped away, inhaling slightly, but it was too late & he turned at the sound.

"Hi..." He said, eyes widening slightly at me, still standing in the doorway. I step back as he opens the door all the way, arms resting on the doorframe. "W-were you... here this whole time?"

I look away, a little ashamed. "Uh... yeah... I had to put away my stuff &-"

He raises his eyebrows, smiling slightly. "You're a band nerd?"
I open & close my mouth, taken aback by the weird sense of interest. "U-uh, yeah... though I wouldn't say 'nerd'... Just because I'm in the band, doesn't mean I'm a nerd... Now, being in honors classes, that makes me a nerd..."

He chuckles lightly. "You know what I meant. What do you play?"

I look away suddenly, feeling a little ashamed. "Flute... people say that a guy shouldn't be playing 1, but I've never really understood the concept of assigning instruments to genders... What about a flute makes it feminine & what about a tuba masculine? Doesn't make much sense to me..."

He smiles understandingly, nodding. "Yeah, I get that... It's nice that you do whatever you want though... That you don't listen to the societal pressure about that or anything... Do you get picked on for that then? Do the kids call you gay for that or something?"

I nod slowly, ducking my head slightly. "Y-yeah... it's kinda ridiculous though... I mean... playing the flute doesn't make me gay, it's liking dick, which is a totally different thing..."

He chuckles, face reddening. "Though they do have similar shapes & you put your mouth on both of them..."

My face reddens & I sputter. "Y-yeah, I guess..." I flinch slightly. "You're not gonna bully me for that, are you? Because my situation currently is going pretty well right now & I'd hate-"

He shakes his head, smiling understandingly. "-Dude, you're fine. I'm not a homophobe, in fact, I'm bi & trans myself, so don't even worry about it, your secret's safe with me..."

My face reddens. "Oh, no- I- am out... to, like, everyone... Except my family... I just... don't wanna be harassed or anything... Most people are ok, but bully figures, you really gotta watch out for..."

He blinks at me. "I'm not a bully."

I back away, heading for my backpack with my stuff. "Noted... Well... this was nice talking... but I sorta... missed my bus... so... if I wanna make it home on time, I gotta do that now..."

Seems like they're getting to know each other more ,':) ;) <3

Happy Pride, btw, again, guys :D <3
