It was another Monday afternoon. I decided to go home just in case my mother was there. I haven't seen her in a while and I miss her so much.

It was a little later than usual because I visited Lili before coming here but I hope my mother is still around.

As I open the door, the smell of roast chicken filled my lungs, making me smile.

"Mom?"

"Sweetie, you're here."

"What did you make?" I quickly asked, taking my usual seat at the dining table.

"Your favorite."

"Yay!" I squealed.

"So, I have been coming home for a few days now but I never saw you here." My mother said as she set an extra plate for me.

"I've been staying at a friend's house."

"Rain's?"

"No."

"Then who?." I sighed in defeat.

"Okay. I was at my girlfriend's house." I mumbled.

"Ooh. And who is this girlfriend of yours?" My mother teased.

"Her name is Lisa and she's a bit older than me. She is so beautiful and smart. Not forgetting kind, compassionate and empathetic. And I love her." I told mom.

"Well, now I really want to meet the person my son is so in love with. And where did you meet this girlfriend?" She asked, skeptically.

"She's my teacher." I whispered. Mom looked at me questioningly. "What is it?"

"Oh nothing. I just hope you're not breaking any rules, or laws."

"We're not, Mom." I assured.

"Good. So when do I get to meet her?"

"Whenever you can make time."

"Okay. I will." And the dinner continued peacefully.

......

"How was the talk with your mom, yesterday?" Lisa asked as she brought some chocolate milk and cookies to the foyer.

"It was the best I've had in years." I gave her a genuine smile.

"That's good to hear." Lisa caressed my cheek. "Are you prepared for the trip? I know it's like a month away but I want us to be ready."

"Yes. I told my mother everything about it already."

"Oh. What did she say?"

"Since Jafhia would be there, she didn't really mind. "

"Who said Jafhia was coming?"

"She did?" I said in a question.

"Oh my gosh. That woman is crazy. She will only be coming in like... the last week or two. Apparently, Jafhia didn't want to be the third wheel." Lili rolled her eyes.

"I guess we will have some alone time then." I said with a mischievous smile.

"I guess so." Lisa replied, shyly smiling at me. "Does your mother know about us?" I nodded. All the blood rushed out of her face.

"She asked and I didn't want to lie to her." I brushed the hair out of Lisa's face. "It's okay, Lili. My mom is actually happy for me, especially after I told her that I'm in love with you."

"Thank God."

"Speaking of mothers," Lisa chuckled as I used her words, "have you gotten a chance to speak to yours?" Her face fell.

"No, she's not answering her phone.. My mother could be proud at times. I'll visit her sometime after the vacation, when she's cooled down." I rose from my seat to gave Lisa a gentle kiss to reassure her that everything will be all right.

"When is the vacation though?" I asked curiously as I sat back down.

"We will be leaving on July 8. I will be driving. The drive is about four to five hours. But we will come back on the 29th so that I can get my ultrasound done and prepare to visit my father."

"Lili, won't you be tired driving for four hours? I think we should take turns to lessen your burden."

"You have your license?"

"Yeah. I got it last year." I stated proudly.

"Good, because I really would have been tired." Lili leaned back on the couch, throwing her arm over her head to hold on the the couch from behind. I laid my head on her lap, with my face to her protruding belly.

"Little Lili, you still haven't answered my first ever question, you know?" Lisa laughed at my childishness.
