"Ratatatat." Jeremiah said from the other side of the door as he knocked.

"Coming!" Lisa shouted as she quickly moved to open the door. After turning the knob and pulling the door open, Lisa could be seen trying to fix something on her beige dress. "Why didn't you just come in?" She questioned.

"I wanted to be a gentleman for the night." He explained with a smile.

"Yeah. Well, this gentleman just made this pregnant woman have to walk from all the way upstairs to open a door he could have opened by himself." Lisa said sarcastically. Jeremiah's smile gradually faded.

"I'm sorry. I thought you would have been ready by now."

"Oh. So it's my fault now for not being ready?"

"That's not what I said. Look, I just wanted to have a little fun, you know. To make the night a bit interesting."

"So I'm boring?"

"Of course not. We have so much fun together. I wouldn't even think of saying that. " Jeremiah took a deep breath. "Listen. If you're not ready yet, I can wait, okay? I didn't mean to upset you." Jeremiah ran his hands up and down Lisa's arms to comfort her. He knew how long it could take her to get ready with her belly in the way.

"I just need to get my purse and we can leave." Lisa started walking away.

"Alright. Oh, and, you look really beautiful tonight," he said with a smile as the curves the baby brought showed through the dress Lisa had on.

"Sure I do. If you think balloons look beautiful." She said quietly but oblivious to her, Jeremiah heard her words.

Lisa walked up the stairs and went to her bedroom to add on some extra makeup to cover up the acne that started appearing on her face. After that, she grabbed her purse and stood in front of the mirror to see how she looked. She turned from side to side, examining everything.

"This will have to do." She said with a sigh before marching out of the room and down the staircases. "I'm ready now." She stopped in front of Jeremiah.

"Okay. Let's go." Jeremiah held Lisa's hand that was not holding the purse. Just as they stepped out of the house, Lisa saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee parked outside.

"What is this?" She exclaimed happily.

"I rented it for the night. I wanted you to be really comfortable for our date tonight. Do you like it?" He asked hopefully.

"Yeah. I do." She quickly walked closer to look at it, running her hands along the outside of the car.

"Good. I'm glad something made you happy tonight."

"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?" Lisa spun around and raised an eyebrow towards him.

"Nothing." Jeremiah opened the door to the passenger's seat. "Let's go?" Lisa entered the car and sat down before Jeremiah closed the door for her and ran around the car over to the driver's seat. He then drove off and the trip to the restaurant began. For some reason, there was an awkward silence in the car. When he asked Lisa a question or told her something, she would just give a single word reply or some snarky comment so he just gave up afterwards. And before they knew it, the car was already parked in front of the restaurant.

"I'll open your door for you."

"I don't need you to do it for me. I already told you that I'm not an invalid." She rolled her eyes.

"Alright. I won't then." Jeremiah took off his seat belt and open his door to exit the car. As he got up, he heard Lisa whisper something.

"Some gentlemen you are." The young man sighed in exasperation for the umpteenth time that night. That was all he was getting from her so far.
