Jeremiah
"Lili, are you awake?" I asked Lisa as I saw her stir on the bed.
"What? What happened? What time is it?" Lisa yawned, rubbing her eyes cutely.
"It's now two o'clock in the afternoon. You were out for about an hour, Lili. But I thought you didn't want to sleep so I don't know how that is possible?" I teased while rubbing my chin as if I was in deep thought. She slapped my shoulder.
"I only slept because you forced me to." Lisa said while sitting up in a drowsy state.
"If you say so, Lili, if you say so." I gave my girlfriend a quick peck on the lips. "Do you want to get something to eat now?"
"Yes please."
"Let's go down to the eatery then. And we could go walk on the beach when we're done. Do you want to do that?"
"Sounds good to me. I have not taken a good walk in the longest while and I need to stretch my legs." She brushed her belly with a loving gaze.
"Are you ready to go Baby Lisa?" I asked as I placed my head over her growing bump.
"Jeremiah?" She called my name.
"Hmm?"
"You do know that he or she won't be able to hear you until the seventeenth week, right? So there's still a lot of time left, like three weeks." Lisa smiled, combing my hair with her fingers.
"What?! So does that mean I'm gonna have to retell all those stories?" I dramatically sighed when Lisa nodded. "I have been living a lie!" I dropped to my knees. "Baby, did you hear what your Mommy said?" I asked again. "Oh, right. You can't." Lisa laughed at my dejected state. "Why didn't you tell me? I made a complete fool out of myself."
"No you didn't. I enjoyed it quite a lot and I don't mind hearing those stories again. Don't worry, Jerry, before you know it you will be able to tell the baby all your stories." She comforted me. "Anyway, I'm hungry. Let's go eat." Lisa got off the bed and walked out of the room, leaving me to run after her after gathering a few things we might need.
"Lili! Wait for me." I barely made it through the elevator door. "You left me." I complained when I reached her.
"Jerry, I'm hungry." She defended herself as she pressed our designated floor button on the elevator. I tsked at her and faced the other side, making her laugh.
"Are you really sulking like a child right now?" Lisa's breath hit my neck, forming goosebumps. I can see her smiling reflection on the wall of the elevator.
"No I'm not." I replied in a small voice.
"Good. I didn't think so." After she said that, my breath hitched as she stepped away, leaving my cheeks hot from the blush that was most likely forming.
..............
"Did you enjoy lunch?" Lisa looked at me with a smile as we walked hand in hand on the beach sand.
"Yes, I did actually. I never really liked sea food but I'm glad you talked me into getting the crab." I replied excitedly.
"Great because I'll be giving you a lot of advice on what to do for the next three weeks we're here. My father used to bring me here a lot when I was a ch-." Lili was cut off when a young woman approached us.
"Hello there." I raised an eyebrow while Lisa said hello to her. The girl turned to look at me. "Hey. So my friends and I are hanging out over there." She pointed to the spot. "And we were wondering if you would like to come and join us?" She had a seductive smile on her face and I felt my Love stiffen beside me.
"No thank you. As you can see, I'm already hanging out with someone." I raised our intertwined hands.
"I don't think your sister would mind. Would you?" She continued and turned to look at Lili, who was looking down. She rubbed her belly as she usually did and the stranger's eyes looked at her stomach and I stepped in front of her.
"Well, good thing she's not my sister then. And I don't appreciate the way you're looking at her. Excuse us." I told her. "Come on, Lili. Let us go." I held her and we walked back to the hotel. We went to our room in silence. When I closed the door, Lisa ran straight to the bathroom.
"Are you okay, Lili?" I asked as I pulled her hair out of her face as she leaned over the sink.
"I think it was just the food."
"Maybe sea food is off the list then. We'll see." Lisa rose up and rinsed her mouth then started sniffing. "Lili, what's wrong?" She looked at me in the mirror with red eyes and shook her head.
"Nothing."
"Lisa." I whined.
"I said nothing!" She snapped, catching me by surprise.
"Okay, Lili. Don't be angry, okay?" I stood by her side and raised my hands in a surrendering motion.
"I'm sorry." Lisa said after a while in a small voice. I gave her a side hug and looked at her side profile.
"I'm just worried about you." I whispered. "Are you sure nothing's wrong?" I asked again and she nodded. "Okay." I did not want to push her. She looks angry enough.
I took her out of the bathroom and back to the bedroom. We just sat there on our individual beds for a while, turned to each other. No one said a word.
"Can you cuddle with me, please?" Lisa asked with a smile after some time.
"Of course. You don't need to even ask such a question." I moved back the sheets on the bed and laid in the middle on my back. I opened up my arms and Lisa came after to cuddle up to my side, with her head resting on my chest.
"You okay there? Comfy?" I asked gently.
"Yeah. Jerry?"
"Hmm?" I hummed in response.
"Thank you." She closed her eyes quietly.
