As the stew boiled, Lisa sat back on the couch beside Jeremiah.
"Tired?" Jeremiah asked the woman when she closed her eyes for a bit. Lisa unconsciously nodded. At that, Jeremiah lifted her feet and started to give her a massage.
"Thank you." Ms. Manoban let out a sigh, enjoying the relief.
Before she knew it, she already dozed off into slumber, going into dreamland.
Jeremiah chuckled quietly. He got up and kissed the teacher's forehead, then went to see what she was cooking. The young man always wanted to cook but hardly ever had the chance to do it. Now that the chance was here, he felt really happy, especially at the fact that he would be cooking for his Lili. He just hoped it would come out right and not get burnt.
He continuously got up to check on the stew before going back to massage the teacher's feet. Lisa's eyes soon shut open, catching the student by surprise.
"Oh gosh! Dinner!" Lisa panicked as she forgot that Jonathan was no longer around. She always had to do everything perfectly and right now she was scared to death if she burned the stew.
"Dont worry. I already took it off. I was just about to wake you up." The teacher relaxed and Jeremiah wondered what really happened. Shaking his head, Jeremiah focused on the teacher.
"Well, shall we eat?"
"We shall."
For the first time since Lisa lived in the house, she actually felt joy at the dining table. They talked and laughed at the craziest things. When Jonathan was around, they never talked at the dining table as it was considered 'rude.'
After dinner, Jeremiah washed the plates, which he insisted on doing. They then settled in the living room to sit down for a chat. Just then, Jeremiah's phone dinged.
'Rain🤗': "I saw you stay back today. What did you and Ms. Manoban talk about?" The teenager automatically smiled, making Lisa feel a little jealous, wondering who it could be.
"Who's got you smiling like that?" She asked hesitantly with an awkward smile, forcing away the jealousy from her voice.
"It's Rain. She's asking -" He stopped. "Should I not tell her about us? Even though there's not really anything going on."
"I think it's okay. I might tell it to Jafhia, too. Maybe they should be the only ones we tell, for now of course." Jeremiah nodded in agreement.
"I guess I have to go now." The student showed Lisa the time he happened to see while checking the text message.
"Yeah." Lisa replied, not bothering to hide her disappointment. Jeremiah grabbed his bag and the two went to the door.
"Maybe I could come back tomorrow?" Jeremiah asked carefully.
"That would be nice." They both stood there, facing each other. The young man leaned forward to give Lisa a quick peck but decided against it and gave her a kiss on both cheeks instead.
"I guess this is goodbye." He said.
"Goodbye, Jeremiah."
............Lisa
"Mom, I've got news." I told my mother over the phone.
"Lisa, what is it?"
"You're gonna be a grandma!"
"Joseph, your step daughter is going to have a baby." My mother exclaimed happily. "We're gonna come see you soon, along with your sister."
"Okay, Mom. I'll wait." We talked for a while before hanging up. I haven't seen them for about six months, but I wasn't particularly happy about them coming over to visit.
My thoughts wandered to Jeremiah. He was so gentle with me yesterday. I'm just glad that he doesn't have a problem with the baby. But I can't help but get scared about this. What if he changes his mind soon? Or what if he might get tired of me like Jonathan? Or what if... what if...
"Stop whatever you're thinking."
"What the— Jafhia? Don't you know it's dangerous to scare a pregnant woman? How did you even get into my house?" I clutched my chest.
"You gave me the key remember?" She jingled the key in front of me. I sigh in relief and lean back in the chair.
"Did you bring it?" Jafhia nodded her head.
"My Queen." She bowed while I rolled my eyes and collected the yummy treat. As I started eating my chocolate, I noticed her staring at me.
"What is it?" I asked irritated.
"So what were you thinking about?" I shrug. "Does it perhaps have anything to do with someone named Jeremiah?" I cough.
"Why do you even come up with those ideas?"
"Why do you always try to change the subject, Lisa?" I sighed in defeat. I really didn't want to tell her now but...
"We're in the getting to know each other stage right now." I whispered, not looking at her. Not hearing a word from Jafhia, I finally look at her. A shocked yet excited look was on her face.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHH." She squealed, jumping up and down. "I knew it. Look at how bright your face is. Finally took my advise, huh?" She teased.
"Yeah. But don't get too excited though, nothing's official yet." I looked at her seriously but she just jumped to give me a hug. 'This girl is really crazy.'

A little while after Jafhia left, my door bell rang.
"Hi." I was greeted by a smiling Jeremiah when I opened the door, making me smile automatically.
"Hello. You must be cold out there. Come in." As we walked to the living room, he spoke.
"I brought ice cream."
"Thank you. I'll just go grab some spoons." I sped to the kitchen, feeling a bit nervous. 'Keep yourself together, Lisa.' I picked up the spoons and walked back to the living room, seeing Jeremiah looking at some of my photos.
"You look beautiful." He said when he saw me.
"Yeah, that was prom night." I smile at him. "Let's eat?"
As we ate our ice cream, Jeremiah spoke again.
"How are you and the baby doing?" My heart swelled at hearing him thinking about the baby's well being. And you already know what happened next... tears.
"Lili, what's happening? Did I say something wrong?" Jeremiah asks worriedly. I shake my head 'no'.
"I'm just so happy. You're so great. Thank you so much."
"You're welcome Lisa." Jeremiah hugged me. After a few minutes, I finally calmed down.
"To answer your question." We chuckled as I wipe my tears. "We're doing great. I'm thinking about getting my first ultrasound next Saturday, actually. I want to see how he or she is doing as early as possible." I caressed my stomach at the end.
