Jeremiah

I woke up at seven in the morning when I heard Lisa shuffle on the bed. She ran into the bathroom and I quickly followed.

"Lili, are you okay?" I asked outside the closed bathroom door.

"I'm fi-" She stopped. I immediately open the door and found her leaning over the toilet. Kneeling next to her, I moved her hair from her face. "I don't want you to see this, Jeremiah."

"I'm okay. Don't worry about me. Focus on you."

After a while, she leaned against the wall, panting.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm alright. It's been happening for a few weeks now, so I'm used to it." I nodded. Lisa got up to go to the sink to rinse her mouth. "Do you want some breakfast?"

"No. I'll just head home." I really don't want to over stay my welcome and I need to reach home early so that I could prepare for my classes.

"Okay." Lisa said in a disappointed tone but smiled right after to cover it up.

"But... maybe I could stay for a while. It's still a bit early, I guess." I said after a moment.

"I'm gonna go prepare then." Her real smile came into view. I approached her to give her a kiss on the cheek but she turned her face away, leaving me in confusion. "I have morning breath, and I just threw up, Jeremiah. I haven't even washed my face yet." Lisa answered my unsaid question.

"And neither have I."

"I'll just brush my teeth first." She walked to the cabinet in her bathroom and took out a new toothbrush, handing it to me.

After we both finished brushing our teeth and washing our faces, I did what I had to do right away, making her giggle. 'Music to my ears.' We then went to the kitchen.

"What do you want to eat Jerry? I can make pancakes. Or fried bake and cheese. Maybe bread and eggs." I laughed. Lisa must be eager to do this and that kind of makes me happy.

"I could eat anything. What do you want Lili?"

"All of them. But sadly my stomach isn't holding pancakes anymore and bread feels so dry now. So bake it is." She pouted.

"Maybe you should think about what you're going to get in place of those silly pancakes."

"My baby." She automatically rubbed her belly, going into a trance soon after. "And that's a whole lot better." I just admired her while she was doing it. "Oh sorry. I'll get to making breakfast."

...............

We are now sat at the small table at the window where we could see outside. I notice Lisa running her fingers through her hair while eating. She has been doing it since earlier.

"Lisa, is something wrong? Are you feeling stressed?"

"No. I'm trying to fix my hair. I look like a mess."

"Don't say that, Lili. You look beautiful, as always."

"Don't flatter me, Jerry. Not all of us are blessed with good looks like you."

"Well, you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." I gave her a cheeky smile.

"Yeah." She said disheartedly.

"I love you." I kissed her on the forehead and she finally gave me a smile.

We continued eating, making small talk along the way.

"As you know, I'm going to get the ultrasound on next Saturday." Lisa started off. "I was wondering... you know... since you're here... and you're probably the only available person... on that day..." She stuttered. I placed my hand over hers and she relaxed.

"Calm down, Lili. Now what were you saying?"

"I was wondering if you maybe wanted to come with me." Lisa asked shyly.

"Of course." I gave her a quick peck on the forehead. "I'm glad that you're taking me along your journey because it makes me feel like we're making progress." We gazed at each other.

"We are."

When we finished, I collected the plates and went to the sink to wash them.

"Jeremiah, you don't have to." Lisa opposed.

"I know but I want to. You made breakfast so I should at least do this." I insisted.

"I give up." Lisa jokingly raised her hands in surrender. "Don't take too long, you still need to go to school. I'll just go take out my clothes. I forgot to do that last night."

"You're going?" I turned from the sink to face Lisa. She looked at me in guilt. "You know what? I'm not gonna oppose." I gave her a tight but not too tight hug.

"I just don't think there's any need to stay home. I'm feeling better already."

"Once you feel like you could go, then go ahead. You do look better."

"I hope you're not angry." She bent her head, prompting me to raise it back up.

"Don't be silly. At least I'll be able to see you more today. Now go take out your clothes."

Ten minutes later, Lisa walked me to the front door.

"Do not stop anywhere okay? I want to see you at school on time. Maybe you could stop by at my class before you go to yours?"

"I will, Lili. Now as much as I want to stay and talk with you, I really need to go."

"Okay."

"Bye!" I ran down the steps and went to the sidewalk.

"I'll see you later!" Lisa yelled adorably as she stood at the front door. It's already 8:00 am which means I have to rush home to be on time for my first class today at 9:00 am. I waved at her before I continued walking.
