Jeremiah
"Summer vacation is coming in about two months. Will you be going anywhere?" Lisa asked me after a while.
"No, I don't think so. What about you?"
"I'll be here for about a month, but I'll be staying with my father for the rest of the vacation."
"Well, I miss you already."
"Me too, Jerry." This is the first time that Lisa has ever called me by a nickname, and I gotta say, it feels good.
I went closer to Lisa and placed my hand over hers, which was on her stomach. She looked up from our hands to my face, and before I realized it, we were both leaning in already.
"We're here!" Lisa and I jumped away from each other in an instant, startled.
As I turned to look at the door , a woman stood there frozen.
"Mom... I didn't know you guys were coming today." Lisa got up to give the woman a hug, but the man, who I assume is her father, stood to the side of them.
"We told you we would visit didn't we?" Her mother said, still looking at my direction.
'I was not expecting this. Why now? Why God, why?' I mentally cried. I'm seriously meeting my... I don't even know. 'My teacher's parents?' That's even worse. And they saw us kissing on our first meeting. 'What a nightmare. I probably won't get a chance with Lisa after this.'
"Well, yeah, but you should have called so I could prepare."
"Who is this Lalisa?" Her mother questioned, as she stalked towards me, ignoring Lili. I immediately stand up, and Lisa stood beside me.
"Mom, Dad, this is... Jeremiah." She was hesitant, but I understand her. This is a bit crazy, especially when your parents are around.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Manoban, it's nice to meet you." I stretched out my hand to her, who turned a blind eye to it.
"It's Mrs. Kissoon." The woman eyed me. "What disgusting things are you behaving with, Lisa?" Mrs. Kissoon said angrily as she stared Lisa down.
"Mother!" Lisa exclaimed.
"Where is Jonathan?!" Lisa's mother looked around, probably hoping to see him walk through the front door.
"We broke up mom." Lisa said carefully.
Third Person POV
"Well, of course you did. I'm guessing he caught you cheating on him with this one."
"Don't talk about things you don't know, mother."
"Wait wait wait. Is he the one who got you pregnant?" Mrs. Kissoon looked at her daughter in disgust, causing Jeremiah to unconsciously wince. "Is this how I raised you? You dirty woman." Two slaps resounded in the living room as the older woman's hands collided with the younger's face. The person at the door, who no one noticed enter the house, had a small smile on her face.
"How could you talk about me this way? Like I'm just some stranger? I'm your daughter!!" Lisa shouted as tears ran down her face. Jeremiah immediately wrapped his arms around her.
"I've had enough of you. We're leaving." Mrs. Kissoon grabbed her husband's hand, who Jeremiah realized was actually Lisa's stepfather, and marched to the front door.
"You're not even going to listen to me?" The woman paid no mind to her and continued walking. Seeing this, Lisa spoke again. "You know I can sue you for hitting a pregnant woman, right?" She wanted her mother to at least feel wrong for what she did. She wanted her to have some kind of reaction to her words. But Mrs. Kissoon merely looked over her shoulder and stared at her daughter.
"Let's see you try." She gently took her second daughter's arm and the three left.
The only thing that could be heard was the sound of Lisa's sobs in the living room.
As soon as Jeremiah saw the woman's crying state, he put her to sit on the couch and hugged her from the side.
Jeremiah whispered sweet, soothing words to her, saying "I love you" in between. The student could feel the teacher's pain from her cries. It was filled with so much sorrow.
"It will be alright, Lili."
"Why does she always have to hurt me?" Lisa breathed heavily. "She doesn't even know what happened but has already put the blame on me. It's like she hates me!!! I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do anything-" At her last word, the teacher blacked out, her body limp against Jeremiah's.
"Lisa? Lisa! Lisa?!" He quickly grabbed his phone and dialed a number when there was no response from Ms. Manoban.
"991. What's your emergency?" The woman on the other end asked when the call was picked up.
"I need an ambulance. My pregnant girlfriend just passed out."
But is she really?
