Lisa walked out of her room and went on to the staircase, holding one of the rails as she moved down.
"Good morning, Daddy." She greeted her father with a hug.
"Good morning, sweetheart." The man placed a kiss on his daughter's forehead, who was now sitting on a chair. "Is there anything that you can't eat princess?" Mr. Manoban asked as he prepared to make breakfast for them.
"Probably just eggs. Oh, and anything dry. I haven't had a problem with anything else that I ate so far."
"Oatmeal then?"
"Yeah. That's fine. Let me help you." Lisa got up from her seat and approached her father. The two were soon sat at the dining table since Lisa found it hard to sit on the stool at the kitchen counter with her growing belly. They then got down to eating, engaging in a light conversation as they ate. When they were finished, Lisa took the cups they used to the sink.
"Alright. Well, I'm heading out to see your Uncle Tom. Will you be okay here by yourself or do you want to come with me? I'm not sure if I should leave a heavily pregnant woman home alone?"
"Excuse me but I am not heavily pregnant. I'm barely at my twenty week, almost twenty-one."
"No offence princess but you look like you're about to pop."
"Thanks for the compliment, Dad," she said drily. Now go before you experience one of my mood swings," Lisa said then she gave her father a kiss on the cheek, which earned her a kiss on the forehead.
"Okay. I'll see you later." Lisa sighed when her father walked out the door.
"What to do now?" In the end, she decided to spend some time with God. She took the bible that was on the shelf and sat down to read. She got bored at first but then things started getting juicy as she read about Saul wanting to kill David because he was chosen by God to become king and was often praised by others, which caused jealousy to stir within Saul's heart. But of course, in the end, the good guy won, causing Lisa to rejoice. Just as she finished reading, her belly grumbled.
"Well, what do you feel like eating then?" She asked herself. "Cheese rolls," the teacher answered right away. She was craving it since she woke up at three in the morning, but she ended up just making toast bread with cheese to substitute for cheese rolls. "Coming right up." She smiled as she got up to gather the ingredients and utensils.
"I want some company. Maybe I should call Jafhia." She had no idea why she was speaking out loud but here she was. She grabbed her phone and placed it in front of her as she prepared to bake the goodies.
"Hey."
"Hey. Just thought I'd call and check up on you."
"Oh yeah, good thing. I just remembered we need colours for your baby shower. Do you have anything in mind that you want?"
"I'll talk with Jeremiah about it, later." Her friend gave her a teasing smile. "What?" She blushed as she added the flour, butter and shortening before rubbing them with her fingertips.
"I didn't say anything."
"Whatever. I'll talk to Jeremiah later and tell you as soon as possible," Lisa talked to her friend on the phone.
"Call him now. I don't want you waking me up in the middle of the night for this. You used to do that a lot."
"You won't have to worry about that because I can't even last until then. Anyways, I want to talk to him too so bye." Lisa hung up before Jafhia replied. She added the water and egg to the mixture in the ball to form a dough.
She was about to send a text to her loving boyfriend to ask if she could call because she was unsure if he was at work or visiting his mother but just then Lisa's phone rang. It was Jeremiah. The teacher was pleasantly surprised. The two of them would normally chat any time after six o'clock but it was only two in the afternoon. She wasn't complaining though.
