Idk what this is, I just needed big bro Rex teasing little sis Ahsoka. The title means nothing, I just seriously stink at making titles, don't judge lol
Enjoy :)
When Ahsoka found herself on the Resolute that night, the first thought on her mind was how much she needed to unwind. The stresses of the past few days were getting to her. Now, normally a Jedi would "release their emotions into the force" and all that jazz, but not only is this Ahsoka, this is Anakin Skywalker's Padawan. That's... not exactly a good combination. She was more of a, "fight it out with a punching bag" sort of girl.
So that's how she found herself in the barracks training room at half past eleven that night. Fists wrapped to avoid breaking anything important, Ahsoka hung a punching bag through the force (she wouldn't admit that she was too short to reach) and went for it. She didn't realize she was being watched until ten minutes later when she stopped, breathing heavy with sweat pooling around her lekku.
"You pack quite the punch," Came a slightly amused voice from the back of the room. Ahsoka whipped her head around, a canteen still in her hand from when she had been chugging water moments before. "Shouldn't you be, I don't know, sleeping?"
She tried to act calm as she moved across the room to meet him in the middle, however intimidated she actually was. "You should too," She jabbed, trying to take the upper hand in some way.
"Ya but you're fourteen and just came back from a battle."
"You're one to talk, you're like ten!" She regretted the words as soon as they came out of her mouth. "Captain." She added onto the end in the hopes it didn't sound as desperate as she thought it did. Rex's raised eyebrow and the hint of a smile confirmed her fears.
"Really, what are you doing up?"
"Training, what does it look like?"
He gestured towards where she had just come from. "Looks like you were trying to destroy a punching bag. Not much for training, exactly." More like stress relief, Rex added on silently.
Ahsoka, exasperated and starting to loose her patience at the Captain, put a hand on her hip slightly behind her lightsaber. "What do you want?"
Rex looked amused that she finally got to the point. "Came to train, but I guess I'll be training with you, little'un."
Ahsoka seemed almost frightened at the thought, but continued like there was nothing wrong. "Fine." She set down her water bottle and returned to the edge of the room where the punching bag hung undisturbed, lifting it off the hook with the force to return it to it's place.
"Can't reach, half-pint?" Rex joked.
She nearly dropped the bag in her anger when he said it but managed to get it to the ground. "You know, you say experience outranks everything, but I can still get you punished for insubordination, Captain,"
Rex only looked jokingly taken back. "Of course, Commander." Ahsoka huffed as they moved their way towards the middle to spar. "Got any hand to hand training?"
"A little."
"Well then, come at me." Rex placed his feet in a ready stance to wait for Ahsoka to pounce, likely less than gracefully.
She had a certain proud glint in her eye as she placed her feet in a similar position. She weighed her options in her head. I'm small, I can either go for an arm or sweep his legs out, maybe kick his knees in? She scanned the man in front of him to look for a weakness. Within a few seconds she was able to raise her fists and almost land a punch to his gut to distract him, kicking his knee in. He caught the punch but wasn't prepared for the pick and fell to one knee. Ahsoka stopped to catch her breath while reaching a hand out for him.
"Not bad. Good job with the distraction, but if I were a real opponent I would have flipped you on your back the second you tried to punch me." He returned to his place in the middle of the mat as they both readied themselves. Ahsoka realized her lightsaber was still on her and unclipped it from her belt. She tossed it towards the bench where her water lay, landing it softly with the force.
"Well you didn't, so I still won."
"Guess I'll have to make it accurate then."
The two continued to spar for another ten minutes, Ahsoka thoroughly tired out by the end with the amount of times she was flipped onto the floor, shoved to her knees, or otherwise incapacitated. She tapped out when she found herself on the ground with an arm behind her back. "Fine, you win, sorry I wasn't trained for war," She grumbled as she picked herself up from the floor. Ahsoka did her best to hide the ache of her arm from the third- no forth time being thrown to the ground, praying nothing was sprained or bruised too badly.
Unfortunately for her, Rex was trained to be perceptive. "Did I hurt you?" He asked gently, gesturing to her bruised arm. He held out a hand in waiting for her to let him inspect it.
"Just bruised it. It's nothing."
He sighed as he held a tighter grip on her arm in the places that didn't appear to be bruised to make sure she didn't break away from his grasp. "Kid, if you're gonna learn one thing from any of the clones it's that being self destructive never helped anyone. Mostly the angry medics, Kix'll have my shebs if I actually hurt you."
After a quick inspection of her arm with minimal complaining, Rex let her go. "Just looks bruised." As they made their way back to the door, Rex spoke a little more chagrined. "Sorry sir, I didn't mean to hurt you. Tap out next time?"
"Ya Rex, I will. Not your fault anyway."
As they continued down the hallways of the Resolute in silence, Ahsoka couldn't help but think about Rex's attitude towards her, as if she really wasn't his commanding officer. Finally she voiced her questions. "Why do you call me little'un?" He seemed to look concerned at the question and stuttered over his answer.
"Well sir, it's- I don't really know, I just did. I suppose I call all my vod'ika that, it came naturally."
She furrowed her brow. "Vod'ika?"
He nodded in slight embarrassment. "It's Mando'a. We call our brothers vod. Ori'vod is older sibling, vod'ika is little sibling."
"Why am I your little sibling? I met you like, a day ago." Ahsoka looked shy, almost as embarrassed as Rex.
"I guess it was just instinct."
They continued their walk in awkward silence until the two came to a fork. One hallway to the bridge, one to to the barracks. "Thanks for the training session, sir. We'll have to do it again."
Ahsoka nodded with a small grin as she headed towards the bridge. "Thanks, ori'vod."
It clearly caught Rex off guard by the way he visibly paled, his eyes going wide and his head turning around to face Ahsoka's figure, walking away. He broke out in a huge smile, thinking about his first little sister. "Of course, vod'ika."
Look, I made it and it's kinda cool!
Have a good day/night/whatever and I'll see you when I see you :)
