So I FINALLY finished school a month later than I should have, which theoretically means I'd be writing more, but n o p e. Brain says no inspo
Here's the non-romantic, modern coffee shop AU that no one asked for! (Yes I'm obsessed with Modern AU's, I can cope how I'd like, thank you very much) Also no, I've never worked in retail. Don't judge me if my knowledge of how a coffee shop works is really quite butchered.
This has basically the same plot to a fic on AO3 call "Ma'am, this is a Wendy's AU" which has possibly become my favorite modern Clone Wars fic. All creds to the plot to the lovely author (So_u_like_pkmn), this is simply bc I can't write anything original for the life of me.
(and don't worry, I checked with them and they said it was alright to write this. I'll be posting it on AO3 as well)
Enjoy :)
The rain didn't help her mood.
She'd been called in for the morning shift, her boss was the only other worker there that early, and no one was there to help her. On top of her shorthanded-ness, Ahsoka was forced to walk to work this morning, getting in just after the rain started, doomed to have to walk home in the same conditions.
So yes, she was doing just peachy.
Ahsoka grabbed another mug from the counter, practically threw it in the dishwasher, and repeated the process until someone came through the door. "Hi, welcome to Fett's, what can I get for you today?" She said in the happiest voice she could manage.
The man on the other side of the counter didn't look impressed with her 'cheery barista' impression. He raised one eyebrow but continued anyway. Ahsoka couldn't help but notice his very distinct Poirot looking mustache and did her best not to chuckle. "Hi, vanilla iced coffee please. Less ice, two sugars, one cream."
"And what size?" She continued, scribbling on an order sheet. The computer just happened to break yesterday, forcing them to the more primatial methods, which Ahsoka was none too happy about.
"Large."
"Alright, I'll have that right out, sir." The man crossed his arms and waited a few steps to the other side of the counter while Ahsoka made his drink. She was just lucky there was only one other person behind the counter, and they could wait. "If you'll give me a moment I'll be right with you," She told them. They didn't seem pleased but Ahsoka didn't stick around to find out the extent of her anger. That was a 'future her' problem. She got to making the coffee, luckily it was an easy order, and in less than two minutes mustache man was appeased, and it was onto the next disgruntled customer.
The woman began rambling off her order before Ahsoka had even greeted her. "Large soy cafe vanilla frappuccino, coffee cake muffin and a chocolate glazed doughnut, the coffee to go." The flustered barista grabbed her pen and notepad as quickly as she could, but it wasn't until the end of the order could she begin writing; She only caught the doughnut portion.
"I'm sorry ma'am, could you repeat that for me?"
The woman scoffed. "I said, large soy cafe vanilla frappuccino to go, a coffee cake muffin, and a chocolate glazed donut. Try using your ears next time," She mocked, handing a credit card over. Ahsoka ignored the comment and stored it away to fume over later as she began towards the back.
"I'll have that right out for you." Before she could leave to prepare her order, the woman interrupted.
"Are you having a bad day or something?" She asked none too kindly.
Ahsoka sighed. "Not great," She replied as she continued on. She was about to begin the coffee when her boss, Wolffe, came out of his office. "Hey sir," She offered, only stopping for a moment before prepping the coffee.
