Sticks And Stones

The one coming after this will likely be just as sad as this one, so stick around all you "putting my comfort characters through pain" peeps. There's gonna be a half baked OC I literally didn't put an ounce of effort into. Except the name, her first name is the name of a bully I had in elementary school that I just felt making the bully in this.

The music video I used to write this chapter (^^^^) covers topics of bullying and implies attempted suicide, so watch at your own discretion.

Also TW for serious bullying and negative self image

Enjoy :)

She repeated it to herself like a mantra, hoping, praying to the force that she'd believe it. "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me," Came the whisper to herself as she walked down the hallway, one other initiate trailing behind.

"Are you deaf?" She yelled in anger. She grabbed a ten year old Ahsoka by the shoulder, forcing her to stop and face the bully. "Your stupid species doesn't deserve to be here. You don't deserve a master." Her brown hair swished in her face the initiate was that close to her. "Why don't you just kill yourself?" She couldn't do it anymore, she let a tear fall as she pulled herself from the bully's grip, forcing herself to move forward as she repeated her mantra.

"Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me."

Oh how wrong she was.

Her voice rang through her head all that day and the next. Why don't you just kill yourself? She kept telling herself that she couldn't let them get to her. She kept convincing herself, that maybe if she ignored the words they'd go away. That maybe, just maybe, she could move on like she hadn't said any of that.

She was able to for a time. The next time she heard comments like that wasn't until she was eleven and had come back from Shilli, having fought an Akul. She was possibly the proudest she had ever been of herself that day, being able to show off her headdress that her and Master Ti had made. She was smiling montral to montral when one of the girls across the bunk from her commented, "Why are your teeth so weird?" Ahsoka suddenly became hyper aware of the fangs poking through her lips. She shut her mouth tight, staring at her lap.

"They're just fangs..." She defended shyly.

"They make you look scary."

That was the day she learned to keep her mouth shut. When Anakin asked her one day it was while they were at the mess and he had just told her about R2's recent malfunction. She was laughing too hard to keep her mouth shut and covered her face with her hand instead. It had become somewhat of a habit at this point, she hadn't shown her teeth to anyone in... three years.

He looked curiously at her, asking, "Snips, how come you cover your mouth when you laugh?" Her head shot up at his question, slightly concerned and hoping she could make up a reasonable excuse.

"Well, I don't really know. I guess it's just habit."

His face turned slightly more concern, sensing the shift in her force presence. "Why is it a habit?"

"Togruta have fangs."

"So?"

"They're not exactly... Friendly looking." Anakin furrowed his brow at what his Padawan was implying. "Most people don't really take kindly to fangs."

"Are you saying people judge you for them?" He looked at her intently, despite her own tendency to keep her eyes glued to the floor, practically forcing her to lift her head to look at him.

Hesitantly, she complied. "It's kind of an occupational hazard as a Togruta."

"Doesn't mean it's right." Anakin took a gentle hold of her hand, Ahsoka just praying to the force this conversation would be over soon. "Ahsoka, have people discriminated you before?"
