From KateBishop2021! Here's some Obi-Wan and Ahsoka bonding fluff, set during the first month of her apprenticeship.
Enjoy :)
It was six days. She'd be fine. Six days without Anakin, six days staying with Master Kenobi.
Who was she kidding, she was terrified.
This was the Master Kenobi! Sure, he was just Anakin's master (and Anakin had to get his dorkiness from somewhere), but that didn't mean he didn't also know every lightsaber form, teach advanced force theory courses, and drink tea with names she couldn't pronounce the names of. And she was just Ahsoka.
Just Ahsoka.
Just bratty, overly confident, average Ahsoka.
So yes. Safe to say, she was terrified.
She had only packed her standard-issue bag with a few sets of clothes, a book she'd borrowed from the archives, and stuffed a travel mug half full with lukewarm caf down the side. Ahsoka planned to spend as much time away from master Kenobi as possible. Avoid the inevitable awkwardness for as long as possible.
Obi-Wan greeted her warmly at the door. "Padawan, come in," He said. "I usually reserve the pullout for Anakin when he's too tired to make his way to his own quarters, but it's ready for you."
She couldn't help but crack a smile at the so obviously Anakin sounding story. She didn't doubt he'd done that multiple times. "Thank you, Master. I'll stay out of your way. With classes and such it won't be a problem." Ahsoka stood awkwardly just inside the doorway, shouldering her bag and waiting for ample opportunity to sit.
"Nonsense," He started. "If Anakin didn't intend for us to spend some time together, he would have left you alone in your shared quarters. Now, can I make you any tea before bed?"
Hesitantly, she answered, "I'm not really one for tea but I guess I haven't really tried too many kinds."
He tipped his head, smiling softly, and nudging her slightly through the force to tell her to sit. She did so and dropped the bag on the ground beside her. "You sound like Anakin, he doesn't much care for tea either. I'm sure I can find one you enjoy." Obi-Wan shuffled around in the small kitchenette. Drawers and cabinets slammed once in a while as he spoke. "Any preference?"
Ahsoka thought for a moment, wracking her brain for any piece of information that might aid in his tea search. "There was a Shilian tea that Master Ti gave me once that I really liked. All I remember was that she said it had ginger in it."
He hummed, seemingly interested, urging her to add anything else. "Something fruity, I think, but I really only payed attention to the ginger."
"Well then, let's go for ginger peach then." It sounded good enough. She enjoyed regular peaches, so tea wouldn't be all that different, she supposed. "Now tell me, Ahsoka," He began, pouring hot water into the mug with a newly placed tea bag slung over the side. "How are you liking being paired with my former apprentice?"
"I'm enjoying it. Master Skywalker's not... Traditional in any sense, but I think that's probably for the best." Obi-Wan couldn't help but laugh as he handed her the tea, warm in her palms and happily welcomed.
"I agree." He sat across from her with his own mug of tea, sipping it slowly to avoid a burnt tongue. "He hasn't changed much since he was my Padawan then."
Ahsoka tried to change the subject. "What kind of tea do you have, Master?"
"I've just got chamomile. Good for sleep, in my experience." Maybe I'll have to try that next, she thought. She'd already found in the short month she'd been in the war that it definitely did not help her already messed up teenage sleep cycle. "You're doesn't have caffeine, so you should be just fine. And it's not like there's much for sugar, either."
She nodded a silent thanks. They returned to their tea sipping, Ahsoka deciding that of all the teas she'd tried in her life (the number of which could be counted on one hand), this came second only to Master Ti's.
"Ahsoka?" She hummed into her mug of tea. "Are you alright?"
Her eyes widened but she didn't make any other physical sign that she was shocked at his question. Honestly, her shielding wasn't all that good, she shouldn't be surprised. "Of course, Master." He didn't seem convinced. "Just anticipating Master Skywalker's return."
"And dreading the time in between?"
Ahsoka was quick to cut him off. "No, Master, not at all. I'm just..." He waited for the honest answer, one which she knew she had to give. Lying wouldn't make a good first impression. "A little nervous, is all."
"For?"
She picked at a piece of dry skin on her fingertips. "It's just a little intimidating, spending time with someone so... I don't know, renowned."
Obi-Wan, not caught of guard, only laughed. "Is that it?" Ahsoka seemed embarrassed at her answer and tipped her head down enough that she wouldn't have to look him in the eyes. "Ahsoka I can assure you, I might sound intimidating, but I color coat my sock drawer. I hope your concern doesn't last." This time, it was Ahsoka laughing. Anakin really did get his dorkiness from his master, then. Changing the subject after realizing his tea had been finished off, and Ahsoka's was about to be, Obi-Wan stood. "I'll grab you a couple blankets then. Force knows Coruscant nights aren't pleasant this time of year."
"And not for Togrutas," She mumbled gratefully. Either he heard her, or the soft smile he gave was over something different. Ahsoka ignored it and set her tea mug on the counter next to his as the Master came back with an armful of blankets.
"The blankets are in that closet," He said with the tip of his head in the direction he came from. "If you get too cold."
Ahsoka nodded. "Thank you, Master. I'm sure I'll be fine."
He only smiled. Obi-Wan set a hand briefly on her shoulder and began shutting off lights in various rooms of the tiny apartment, leaving only a lamp beside the sofa and his own bedroom light. "Goodnight, Ahsoka," He spoke.
She smiled softly. "Goodnight." The girl settled herself under two blankets, with a third at the ready, pulling the edge of one up to her chin. Maybe this week wouldn't be all that bad after all.
Debating a part two, because I feel like this is just... So fluffy, and I need more
Hope you enjoyed! I'm thinking I'll update one (if we're lucky, maybe two) more times this week. I'm planning to take Friday through Sunday off as a little self-birthday gift haha
Have a good night/day/whatever and I'll see you when I see you :)
