Love Language

Sorry I haven't been able to update as much as I used to, anxiety/mental health has been wacky, school's being a butt, among other mildly annoying things, so that kind of been taking a toll on my inspiration. It makes it worse that I have a bunch of free time and I feel like I should be able to write lol.

Thanks for sticking around, and here's some self-indulgent platonic cuddling.

Enjoy :)

Togruta are a social species. That is a fairly widely known fact.

When Ahsoka came to the temple she clung to Master Plo like her life depended on it. To her it felt like it did with all the new experiences, so many force presences, and such a huge shift in her life at such a young age. It became clear early on that her love language was touch with all the hugging, clinging, and other displays of physical affection she showed as a youngling. That was quickly shut down though, her masters afraid of affection leading to attachment. Or at least, they tried to shut it down. It didn't last once she became a Padawan.

Her species' tendencies were slowly becoming more obvious to those around her as well, the way she instinctively slung an arm around her vod's shoulders when they were hanging around outside of the war, how much free time she spent in the barracks and the mess hall, and the amount of times she found herself needing to be around Anakin, Rex, or another brother or master before she could succumb to sleep. It wasn't unwelcome, but intriguing anyway.

So when Ahsoka found herself alone that night, she didn't even bother trying to sleep.

Her oversized hoodie hung low on her already short frame as she pattered down the hallway towards Obi-Wan's quarters where Anakin said he'd be. Some sort of future battle plans they had to settle. When Ahsoka knocked she could already feel herself calm at the familiar force presences of her masters, letting loose a small yawn. Obi-Wan answered the door with a small smile. The girl returned it as she spoke.

"Anakin here?" He nodded. Putting an arm on her shoulder (which she happily leaned into), Obi-Wan led her inside towards the couch where Anakin was sitting in anticipation for her.

Anakin's soft smile grew at the sight of his exhausted Padawan. "C'mere Snips," Her master offered, an arm out in greeting. Ahsoka sat on the sofa next to her master, curling into Anakin's chest as she let out a sigh, letting them continue with whatever they were planning. "Comfy?"

"Mhm." Ahsoka nuzzled into his side with a purr, something they both had been rather amused at when Anakin found out. "Thanks," She mumbled.

"No problem."

The two men continued with talk of war, discussing ground assaults and splitting teams, but soon it all blurred together as her yawns became more frequent and Anakin's hands traced up and down her arm in a comforting motion to try and relax her. Her master was always good at this sort of thing. Soon the only thing keeping her awake was Obi-Wan's steady voice in the background, pulling her back into reality, doing his best to hide the smile in his voice and focus on the work the two had ahead of them. Finally he sighed in defeat.

"Anakin I don't believe we're getting anymore done tonight, why don't you two go back to your quarters?" Obi-Wan offered, standing and taking with his an empty mug with him to discard in the sink. Now focusing back on Ahsoka' barely conscious figure, he spoke again. "I suppose we should wake her?"

Anakin chuckled softly. "Nah, let her sleep." Moving his body sideways so he could grip her small build in his arms, Ahsoka mumbled something unintelligible in protest. "It's okay Snips, I've got you." She seemed to relax at his low voice in her montrals. She went back to a soft purr in her semi-awake state. Ahsoka's head was settled nicely in the crook of his neck as he carried her out the door, a small nod and an overwhelming smile from her grandmaster that she didn't quite catch, eyes only half open.

Before Ahsoka could fully process her surroundings the two of them were back in their shared quarters. Anakin laid her down on his own bed, shrugging out of his outer robes and into a t-shirt and sleep shorts before getting into bed beside her. He knew she'd protest if he tried to separate them and decided he was better off just sharing he bed. Before he could get under the covers Ahsoka mumbled something. "Gotta speak up," He replied.

Ahsoka, now slightly more awake, tilted her head towards her master to capture his attention. "How come you never stop me from hugging you?"

Anakin furrowed his brow before continuing. "Ahsoka, the code might say no attachment but I happen to know that your love language is physical touch and I'm not about to deny you that." Seemingly in response he reached out and pulled the girl closer.

"What do you mean?"

Again, his expression changed to confused and slightly concerned. "About your love language or the code?"

Ahsoka glanced up towards his face, only being able to see it in the dark because of her heightened senses. "What's a love language?"

"A love language is how you show affection. I don't remember all of them, one of them is gift giving, there's words of affirmation I think, there's like two more after physical affection." Ahsoka was now even more fully awake at this new conversation.

"What's yours?"

Anakin chuckled. "I don't really know. Never bothered to find out."

Ahsoka seemingly studied his face for a moment. "We'll figure it out."

"I'm sure you will, now sleep. We have a long day tomorrow and I don't need you falling asleep on me in the middle of briefing." His arms wrapped around her one last time as they both let out a sigh at each other's relaxation. There they lay, slowly falling asleep on one another, Anakin rubbing circles on Ahsoka's back to try and get her to fall asleep again, and Ahsoka nuzzling her head in his chest. They'd undoubtedly be a little sore the next morning from falling asleep like that, but if they were lucky it wouldn't last long; absolutely worth it though.

Moments before Ahsoka succumbed to sleep she spoke up in no more than a whisper. "Anakin?" He hummed in response. "Love you."

He was caught off guard at the moment but not unpleasantly. "I love you too Snips."

Look! I wrote something I'm kind of proud of for the first time in like, ten chapters. Idek how long it's been since a chapter I was super proud of... This is awesome considering I wrote it over the span of like four hours, half of it got deleted, then I had to switch from writing on the floor with my phone to the computer which wouldn't turn on... It was a wild ride but I got here.

School is so stinking close to being done guys, I'm like, less than three weeks away 😩

Have a good night/day/whatever and I'll see you when I see you :)
